Problem is, I need to go back to 37.2, but I can't find this for download.
Until that happens, I have no Logos at all.
Please help!
Here is how to uninstall
Before Uninstalling, recommend restarting Mac (see if issue goes away) and launch to blank layout, see sign-in tipNote: If using a supported Stable release, before uninstalling, please contact Tech Support if the program does not seem to be functioning properly. An uninstall/reinstall may not be the solution. Beta issue(s) are discussed in Logos Desktop Beta forum In Finder window, Home icon appears next to your username for quick access to /Users/usernameFor ~/Library see User Library is Hidden below.
It is from the Wiki
You may need to do more to uninstall 38 than you did.
If that does not update you, then try update channel to stable.
Gunnar, I was able to update the Monterey OS on my 2017 vintage machine. It does work and Logos 38 is happy.
Ugh. So sorry to read this. Do you use TimeMachine?
I hosed my Logos installation once and very successfully restored it.
Sorry to say my backup is too old!
Been there, done that. Got the t-shirt! 👕
Try this page then:

There are no links to older versions of Logos desktop app for mac anywhere!
I suppose I will have to learn to live with web-app, and enjoy happier memories from a time passed.
Thanks Donovan for input and understanding,
Gunnar
Gunnar,
I asked someone from Logos to review this post for you. The program should not install an update that is not approved by the OS.
no, but in my damaged wisdom I did it! My mistake!
Ahhh… it is Saturday so it may be Monday, but hopefully someone from Logos will walk you through the process. I think… you will need to uninstall 38 and then when you go to download Logos it will select the most recent update available for your system… I think. I do not think you can install 37 OVER 38. Perhaps another MVP may be able to provide you with instructions or you can wait for Logos to hopefully opine.
Wish I could help more, but don't want to make things worse.
A 37.2 DMG would save my day!
If you go to Logos.com and click on Download Logos what do you get?
Thank you so very much!
I wait and see.
I think the Logos.com website where is says DOWNLOAD Logos should select the correct download for the IOS. What happens when you click on it? You may need to uninstall 38 before you can install 37 if it is there.
I uninstalled Logos on my computer, and went to "download" (Intel). I then sadly get v38 again.
I think I will try to go back to an earlier version I have on TimeMachine, put that in place. That will give me an error on my books, so if I delete all my downloaded and indexed books, I might download from scratch, index again and then go with "Update now" from Logos command-line. Might work.
I have been away from my keyboard and I see the amazing and one and only @John Fidel is helping you. If you keep at it, you will beat it. So sorry. Do pay attention to the uninstall instructions. Unless you can do a complete rewrite of things with Time Machine, you need to be careful to try to create the conditions of a clean install. I would pop over to help you if I could. 🙁
Thanks both!
I have uninstalled completely (thanks for instructions, I wouldn't have guessed it, surely), including deleting all books. I then got my timemachine heated up and running, and got an earlier version installed: Logos Bible Study 37.0 Beta 4 37.0.636.
When I go "Update now" the message is, that no updates are available. Strange, I think.
I have downloaded a portion of my books, indexed them and it works fine. But I really would like to get back to 37.2, because 1) I have the library indexed for this, and 2) the version I now got running is a beta. I am aware, that even if I succeded to get 37.2 running again, I still have a version, that doesn't get updated in any way. But money for new hardware is not available in nearest future, and my wife says, that the gift for me for christmas is done and dusted.
So if I could get the app to update to newest possible on my hardware, it would be wonderful.
try going to the command box and entering
Set update channel to default
Then try updating if it doesn’t automatically.
Oh yes. Default didn't work, but Stable …!
I am a happy and very thankful old man. Everything is in its right place, and works like before I made the disaster.
I wish you a blessed sunday, and thanks again, both of you!
Sincerely, Gunnar
Glad to get you back!!
I Just encountered the same issue. Could the Logos team make the 37.2 dmg available to us unfortunates? I ended up installing Verbum 37.2
So in retrospect you must completely uninstall version 38 (as in this thread) before you can install anything older?
That is correct - yes
Yes. When I first went back to my TimeMachine 37.0 Beta, it couldn't start because my books where indexed/modified according til 37.2 (and they are not compatible with 37.0 apparently).
There is another way, but I am reluctant, because it is so much thin ice. It is to install an OS on my hardware, that is compatible with Logos 38+. My Macbook pro is medio 2015, but all the way back to 2012-hardware it is possible to install Sonoma (macOS 14). Search youtube for this. But again, very thin ice in my opinion. On the plus-side is, that Logos updates then will download as usual now and ind the future.
This is correct. If you use Time Machine, you have to recover things in such a way that you are not just reinstalling the old app. You have to recover or create the state around that prior version. I got pretty beat up on doing this a few years ago, but if you are patient and do some reading, you can get it done.
Great to see the support and progress here in this thread. Thank you all for jumping in to help!
@Kevin Houghtaling, are you still needing assistance?
Yes, it really has been a joy to meet helpful people from the other side of the globe. Thank you so much.
My problem is solved, an everything is fine.
I wish you all a blessed advent,
This community is incredible! I’m happy to hear that you’re back in business! I often mention that Logos might be why I even have a computer! It feels like my computer has completely crashed when it's not working! 😮
You can download 37.2 dmg from here: https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS10/Installer/37.2.0.0012/LogosMac.dmg https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS10/Installer/37.2.0.0012/LogosMac-arm.dmg (the first link is for x64, second is for arm64)
Good Morning Jason. Thank you for asking; I appreciate you. The short of it I am happy to report that OS Sequoia works fine on a 2017 Mac and Logos 38 is happy. 😃 Before yesterday I got Verbum installed at the 37.2 level. I knew this was not going to satisfy me as I knew I could do better. After all I went with a subscription since I wanted to keep up with Logos advancements. Being frozen at 37 was not going to do. Furthermore I purchased a used MacBook Air for the purpose of Logos. I upgraded it to a 1TB SSD since you can do this with a 2017 machine. To replace it would have been a $1000. If my fellow old Mac people are interested there is a great YT video with very clear step by step instructions. After backing up (which was not needed) I installed the new OS over the old preserving all of my apps including the non-functional Logos 38. For those interested, see Anson Alexandar’s most excellent instructions. If you contact me I will guide you.
Thank You Vlad!
Hi Jason, still getting used to quoting. I replied in this thread this morning
Thanks. Tomorrow Will be the day I try the same.
Hi Gunnar, my curiosity has gotten to me. Were you successfull in the quest to upgrade the OS? I failed to mention that you do need a 32 GB flash drive for the upgrade and an optional Time Machine backup if you are not comfortable just restoring from scratch if there was a major hiccup.
Hi Kevin, no I couldn't get it to work. Tried 4 times, got new flash drive, tried again. The problem is, that when the flash is ready, and I try booting from it, and select the EFI from flash as boot-drive, the computer still boots from internal drive. I never get to booting into the opencore on the flash, and therefore never get to the point, where I have to choose between Disktool/delete and Installation upgrade to the existing OS.
As I am preparing my next sermon, I try to forget all about it for now. The EFI-editing and the like is not the time, I think.
So the video from Anson looks nice and easy, but didn't work as easy for me.
Hi Kevin - perfect! Now it worked as expected. Thank you so much.
Now Sequoia is up and running - what a joy!
Maybe I also had part in this issue. An earlier Youtuber I saw, advised to remove checkmark in OCLP/Setting: Show OpenCore Boot Picker, and so I did. But the checkmark should be there, until the installation is completed, and not removed before that. I did, and that could also be part of the boot-problem. But anyways your advice made all the good stuff happen.
OCLP have released an update yesterday, that handles something around Sequoia 15.2 i think. Just saying if an OS-update is coming.
But now I am good and can continue with the work that it's all about !
I wish you a joyful advent and christmas - I am already arrived there, and in that you play an important role.
God Bless you!
It was a pleasure to help you brother! My gift is that you get to continue to preach the Word without hindrance. I am happy my talents help someone else. I am blessed in many ways. I’ll keep checking for the next incremental release. Don’t forget to run root patching after any Mac updates. I just updated OCLP in preparation for 15.2. I would not recommend advancing beyond Sequoia with these outdated Intel chips. Your laptop should be fine with Logos for two more major MAC updates. God Bless you my new friend from afar!
I was wondering about a bible verse, Matthew 27:25. After I opened my standard bible, I wanted to see if there are correspondences in the other gospels. Here is what I did: Open my library, filtering for synopses, clicking on Aland's. Is there any way to get to the result in a faster way?
