Italian Bible "Nuova Riveduta"

Hello,
I am a believer from Italy, and I believe that adding the "Nuova Riveduta" Bible to Logos would be an important step for the Italian evangelical community. This version is the most commonly used in Italian evangelical churches, and many users would benefit from having it available in your software.

I have contacts with the organization that holds the rights to this translation in Italy and would be happy to help establish communication to facilitate making this version available on Logos.

Including the "Nuova Riveduta" Bible would greatly increase Logos’ appeal in Italy, where there is a growing need for high-quality digital biblical resources.

    Hey Ruben, are Italian versions of the Bible like the English versions with modern and old English, or is Italian the same and hasn’t changed that much as a language?

    In English the older versions use Thee, Thou, Thine, Thy, Doeth, Suffereth, etc. I want to know if Italian Bibles do the same.

    The reason I’m asking is because I would like to learn Italian as it is spoken today, so any version of the Bible that can help me accomplish that will be great! 👍

    Thank you for your question! Just like English, the Italian language has evolved significantly over the years. Older versions of the Bible in Italian contain terms and expressions that sound quite archaic and can be difficult to understand even for modern Italian speakers.

    On Logos, you can find two Italian versions:

    1. Diodati (1607) – This is the first complete Italian translation of the Bible, similar to the King James Version (KJV) in English. It’s not widely used in churches today because of its old-fashioned language.
    2. CEI (2008) – This is the official version of the Italian Episcopal Conference (Conferenza Episcopale Italiana), used in all Catholic churches. It has undergone several revisions, and the latest version available on Logos is from 2008.

    In Protestant churches, you will more commonly find:

    • Riveduta (1924) – A revision of Diodati with more modern language.
    • Nuova Riveduta (2006) – The most widely used version in evangelical churches, known for its faithfulness to the original text and its contemporary language.
    • Nuova Diodati (1991) – A revision of Diodati with updated language, but less common than the Nuova Riveduta.
    • Bibbia della Gioia (1981) – A paraphrased version, similar to The Living Bible or The Message.
    • Nuova Traduzione Vivente (2022) – This is a more recent version, available only for the New Testament, and is the Italian equivalent of the New Living Translation (NLT).

    If you want to learn Italian as it is spoken today, I would recommend the Nuova Riveduta (2006) or the Nuova Traduzione Vivente.

    Are there any Italian Bibles that use the ecumenical canon of the RSV/NRSV/NRSVue which is suitable for Protestants, Anglicans, Lutherans, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox - having the canon of each? Or is that still just an American thing?
