    Desk top, web or mobile? Mac or PC? marks on what book or type of book? My guess in the dark is that you have note indicators you don't want. In the resource tool bar, select the Notes tab, then select the Show Notes and Highlights and use the slider on the upper right to turn off notes and highlights.
