Treating the references as plain text in Visual Filter

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a visual filter in Logos to highlight references to 2 Corinthians within a commentary. My goal is to have all references to 2 Corinthians highlighted whenever they appear in the text. However, Logos seems to be treating the references as plain text rather than recognizing them as Bible passages.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

1. I created a new visual filter under the Documents tab.
2. I added a search query like 2 Cor or 2 Corinthians as the text to match.
3. I assigned a highlight style (e.g., yellow background).
4. I applied the filter to the specific commentary.

Am I missing something in the setup? Does Logos require specific syntax for Bible references in visual filters? Or is this an issue with how the commentary is formatted?

Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, MJ. It worked for me, although it’s still strange that it only works by copying and pasting.

It looks like you asked for a text search. If you want a reference search you want something like bible:"2 Corinthians" One way to test your format, is to do a search on a resource and check that it selects the right things. Then copy & paste into the filter. In this case, the search on a book would have suggested the right format without your having to remember it (or even knowing the why of it).

You don't have to copy and paste - I tell people to copy and paste when I'm not sure they understand the syntax, for example, think they can put a space after the colon.

Really? I wrote the correct syntax and it didn't work. I copied it from a book search and it worked. Didn't I tell you? That's weird! Look at this:

But, if I switch to bible:"1 Timoteo", correctly highlights only the verses. The same with Thessalonians.

Unfortunately, I don't use the Spanish interface so I'm not sure of spelling and I don't read dark mode. I don't know what the Spanish interface uses for the keyword. In English it is bible: - it may be an error in the Spanish or it may be that the Spanish uses the same keyword.

You don’t need to know Spanish. In Logos, search operators and syntax work the same regardless of the interface language. (i.e. bible:"1 Timothy" = biblia:"1 Timoteo") Please note the applied filter and the result on the left. This is what I say it is weird. But if I change the search to 2 Timothy or 1 Thessalonians, it works as expected.
