Why 3 Emojis?

Scrolling down the Emojis, after some displaying two choices, there appear three. Why that?

    Just wondering why you have an emoji icon and I have a formatting icon.

    They are very slightly different. It's the same with all of them.

    OK … I figured it out (skipping over all the emoji-ology) … on the iPhone, the app doesn't provide an emoji button. On the desktop, it does.
