Revert to version 40 reference highlighting

Please revert to the reference highlighting of version 40. The recent change to bright blue highlighting is extremely distracting. I would prefer no links to the bright blue. Best of all would be to make such highlighting optional. In the meantime, perhaps there would be a way to revert to version 40?

    I find it distracting when words are highlighted blue as opposed to a single (usually superscript) letter.
