It should be far easier to sort notes by reference

I have a lot of notes which I am trying to import, and as I am doing so, I am finding it frustrating that the normal sorting options are all impractical. I am specifically frustrated that "Reference" is grayed out, as it is the only option I use and need.

While I understand that I can go through a multi-step filtering process and THEN it can be viewed by reference, when I close the notes my sorting preference is not remembered and I need to go through the multi-step process over and over.

I find this unnecessarily complicated and tedious. While I think that reference should be the default, I would request that the program at least remembers how I had a notebook last sorted, so that once I open the notebook, it re-opens it sorted by reference.

Thank you for considering this.

I like this idea. It would be useful if notebooks had memory about the user's preferred (last used) sorting preference within each notebook. It's a bit of a problem that not all notes have references, but listing all notes that do contain references first would seem like a logical solution, while all notes that do not contain references could fall back to a different sorting option, like date created.
