Tab not working to type in reference?

On Logos for mac 44.1.2 and the tab shortcut is working like before. It used to be that when I pressed "tab" it would take me to the active window and I could type in a new reference, but now when I press "tab" it takes me to the active window but won't let me type until I actually click in that field which takes away the speed/convenience of just having the keyboard shortcut. Is there something I'm missing or is there a new key shortcut now?

How do you make numbered lists work correctly?
