The performance on the Atlas tool is very slow. That is unfortunate, because this is a very valuable tool. When I am reading the Bible, I will right-click on the name of a city or territory, and then click on Atlas to see where this is at. I will Zoom in to get potentially more useful detail (like additional names of surrounding towns). I will Zoom out to get a big picture context of the location.
This is an incredibly useful tool. Please significantly improve the speed of the performance.
Let me relay to you my attempt to solve this problem using different hardware to address the problem.
I have an Intel Core i7-1165G7 machine with 4 cores, and 8 logical processors (which I assume to be "threads"). This processor was released in 2020.
Thinking that a newer processor would help, I purchased a machine with an Intel Ultra Core i7 155H (series 1, Meteor Lake). It helped slightly, but the performance was still too slow. I returned that machine, and bought another machine with an Intel Ultra Core i7 256V (series 2, Lunar Lake). This machine had the improved Arc graphics 140v. This did not noticeably improve over the series 1 processor. I returned this machine, and bought another machine that had a dedicated graphics card. That machine had an Intel i7-12650H with 10 cores and 16 threads. The graphics card was an Nvidia RTX 4060. Even though this was an older processor (released in 2022), I thought the dedicated graphics card would help. This did not improve performance.
My conclusion after comparing 4 different Intel technologies is that the fault does not lie with the machine, but with the software. All four machines had a potent CPU (Intel i7 cores). The three machines that were purchased had progressively more powerful graphics ability. Yet, none of this significantly helped.
