Is YHVH correct name for God.

Is YHVH written in Hebrew on the 1611 King James bible instead of YHWH? A believer in Christ said (YHVH) Yehovah means I Am and is the correct name for God. Also, Yahweh is a Samaritan god. A non-believer says Yahweh means Baal. Has anyone invested the name Yahweh to make sure it's correct to use in a Christian bible?

The Hebrew word yhwh does appear in the Hebrew text on which the King James Bible is based.

Using Logos you can access lexicon definitions of the word to get more insight on its meaning.

I'd comment on Graham's excellent advice that the image he shows is that of a theological lexicon. You are indeed more likely to obtain the sort of information your questions ask from that type of lexicon. NIDOTTE (New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis), for instance, and others of academic level, discuss ANE (Ancient Near East) usage. If you are not used to academic discourse, you may find them harder to read, but they are also packed with more information.

Another option, is to look up Yahweh in Factbook. In addition to the key article, look into the dictionaries section for articles on the topic.

Grahams answer is correct. It also might be helpful for you to also know that in older English translations (like the KJV), the English reader was able to know which Hebrew was underlying by the use of typefaces.

YHWH was translated in the KJV as “LORD” in all capital letters. Some might say these typographical messages are no longer needed when we have interlinears and software like Logos that makes the original language easily accessible. As such, Most modern translations have abandoned this practice.
