One of the biggest frustrations I run into with Logos on both desktop and mobile is how linked Bibles stay in sync. Right now, the syncing logic keys off the verse that starts the first visible line. The result? Two panes often appear misaligned even when I’m clearly studying a different verse.
Take a simple example: my English Bible is centered halfway through verse 12, but there are still a few leftover words from verse 11 at the top of the screen. Instead of recognizing that I’m really focused on verse 12, my Hebrew Bible remains stuck on verse 11. On desktop, that’s an annoyance. On mobile, with less screen space, it becomes so disruptive that I often give up on linked panes altogether.
There are two things that would make this dramatically better:
- Smarter Verse Syncing — Instead of always picking the verse that starts the first line, sync based on the verse most prominently displayed. This could mean the verse that takes up most of the viewport, or even the verse that the top line ends with. Either approach would make syncing feel far more natural.
- Smooth Syncing — As a dream bonus feature, it would be amazing if linked Bibles could scroll together by percentage of the viewport rather than jumping only at verse boundaries. That way, if I’m halfway through a verse in one Bible, the other Bible scrolls to about the same spot. This would make study across languages or translations feel fluid instead of clunky.
These changes would make linked Bible study seamless, especially on mobile where the current behavior is the most painful. I suspect both developers and power users would appreciate the difference — it’s the kind of polish that makes Logos a joy to use.
