Multiple Copies of NICNT Gospel of John

In my excitement of seeing NICNT titles come up on sale, I took the opportunity to purchase a few books to add to my collection. In my haste I purchased the Leon Morris 1995 edition of the Gospel of John and the J Ramsey Michaels 2010 edition of the Gospel of John. Should I keep both? Has the scholarship advanced enough that the later edition supersedes the 1995 edition or do the commentaries of two well known scholars compliment each other? I appreciate your thoughts.

I think that your question regarding advancing scholarship as you worded it would only make sense if it was the same author doing the second edition (I probably would keep only the newer edition, if the same author updated their own commentary). Another author, however, regularly has his own approach, theological leaning, style of witing etc. So both will be worthwile to have, they should complement each other. (FWIW, I personally think everything Leon Morris wrote is worthwile to have anyway)

I agree that Leon Morris is an excellent commentator and author.
