I’d like to suggest a few related improvements to how highlights and Notes work together in Logos, aimed at speeding up study workflows and reducing friction.
1. Merge Bible Highlights into Notes
When a verse is highlighted in the Bible, it would be extremely helpful if that highlight could:
- Automatically appear in the Notes tool when a note is linked to that passage, or
- Be optionally displayed/merged into the Notes panel when that note is selected
This would allow users to view Scripture highlights and personal notes in one place, instead of switching between tools. For sermon prep, teaching, or deep study, this would make review much more intuitive and efficient.
2. Improve Highlighting in Notes (Shortcut Consistency)
Highlighting inside Notes currently feels more cumbersome than highlighting in Bible text:
- In the Bible, keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl + K or assigned highlight shortcuts) apply cleanly
- In Notes, text often has to be selected twice or clicked multiple times before a highlight applies
It would save a lot of time if highlighting in Notes worked the same way as Bible highlighting, with:
- One-step text selection
- Immediate highlight application via shortcut
- Consistent behavior across Bible text and Notes
3. Add a “Format Painter” / Copy Formatting Tool (Like Microsoft Word)
A major productivity boost would be a Format Painter–style tool, similar to what exists in Microsoft Word.
This tool would allow users to:
- Copy an existing highlight style (color, emphasis, underline, etc.)
- Apply that same formatting to other text in Notes (and ideally Scripture text)
- Maintain consistent visual formatting without repeatedly reselecting highlight styles
Example use case:
If I highlight a key theological concept in yellow with bold text, I could quickly “paint” that same formatting across multiple note entries or passages—saving time and keeping formatting consistent.
This would be especially valuable for:
- Sermon and lesson preparation
- Thematic studies
- Users who rely on color-coding and visual structure
Why This Matters
For users who heavily rely on Notes:
- Faster highlighting improves study flow
- Merged highlights + notes reduce cognitive load
- A Format Painter tool eliminates repetitive formatting steps
- Consistency across tools makes Logos feel more unified and polished
These changes would significantly enhance everyday usability, especially for power users.
Thank you for considering this enhancement!
