Search for highlighted text in bibles and books.

It would be very useful to be able to search for all my highlighted text in my Bible and books. Especially the Bible because I was hoping that by using a specific colour highlighter, I could then have gone back and found those passages either for memorisation or reference points. I was very disappointed to learn that these highlights are now essentially lost. Also I was hoping that I could use highlights in various books that I'm reading, as a way to go back and find those key sections that stood out to me and possibly share them with others.

You can search for highlighted text - there is some guidance on doing this here

And the help file provides more information (as below):

Highlight

The Highlight extension term finds text highlighted with a specific highlighting style. The content specifies the name of a highlighter style, with the palette name as necessary.

• highlight:"StyleName" — Finds highlights using the entered style name.

• highlight:"PaletteName/StyleName" — Use if the style name appears in several palettes.

• highlight:"PaletteName/*" — Finds text marked with any style in that palette.

• highlight:* — Finds all highlights.

For example:

• highlight:"Darkness" — Finds all highlights in the "Darkness" style.

• highlight:"Bible Study/Darkness" — Finds highlights for the "Darkness" style in the "Bible Study" palette.

• highlight:"Bible Study/*" — Finds all highlights in the "Bible Study" palette.

Thanks Graham,

I just received an Email from LOGOS stating that you can NOT search for highlighted text and that I should submit the feature request. So, I'm confused. Also the above looks like a LOT of custom configuration as opposed to just "search for" and select "blue text". I'm also not sure what changing all that 'stylename' information would do to my normal highlighting. Looking for something that does not require me to rewrite configuration data in the app. Just highlight and search :)

You can search for highlighted text as the examples I showed above demonstrate - so I don’t understand the message you received.

And there’s not really a lot of configuration to do - but afraid I can’t demo as I don’t have access to my desktop.

If, for example, you have used the Blue Highlight you should be able to search for

Highlight:”Blue Highlight”

Hopefully someone with access to a desktop will be able to demo.
