Both the Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary) and Catholic Daily Readings resources show the Gospel Acclamation for today May 24, Pentecost Sunday, as just the unlinked word "text". This is meant to be the scripture verse that forms the basis of the Gospel Alleluia. For today, the Alleluia (per USCCB.org) is
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
ALTHOUGH! What is mandatory on Pentecost Sunday (optional at the Vigil) is that the Pentecost Sequence be sung - which is the basis for this Alleluia verse, followed by the Alleluia shown above (it's possible the Alleluia is shown only if the Sequence is not sung at the Vigil) :
SEQUENCE (Veni, Sancte Spiritus)
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!
Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.
You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.
ALLELUIA:
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
The Lectionary for Mass: For Use in the Dioceses of the United States of America, Second Typical Edition, Volumes I–IV resource shows this.
This might be an error of incompleteness that should be fixed @Joe McCune (Faithlife) ? Or maybe those 2 daily readings books aren't meant to include the Feast day Sequences throughout the year (I don't have a hard copy of them - I have the Lectionary that includes the Sequences). I wonder what the hard copy book says, does it say just "text"? That seems odd. At a minimum I would think saying"Sequence" or something more useful would be better.
Anyway - we can do better than "Text"?
