I think it is a fine preview and I am encouraged to see strong scholarship on an OT book from a conservative perspective.  That said, I do wish they would have started with a more "popular" NT book (i.e. Galatians, James, Romans) to start the ball rolling and better sell the long term payment investment.

I should not give you information beyond what is to be announced by Logos, but there are some good things happening later this spring and early summer.

Hopefully we will be hearing more about these mysterious spring and summer "good things" soon? [:D]

Just a few pages of preview of one book still couldn't justify for paying so much money $ in advance for few years!

I can certainly appreciate your hesitancy.  There is a fair amount of risk.  It is certainly well within our rights to forgo this deal and wait 5 or 6 years when most volumes are out.  I may end up doing that for my own economic reasons.

That said, these things are in favor of buying now, if you have the cash: the known quality of the majority of the authors; the reputation of Logos; the current preview which shows (what we hope is) a template of thoroughness for the rest of the volumes; the promise to include unique features of Logos and digital publishing.  Those last things remain exciting.

I guess I only wish that the series had a more eclectic group of theological positions--even within the evangelical camp itself.

    I like Apples.  Especially Honeycrisp.

I am very happy with what I can see in the preview. I like also a short Application section. Great. [Y] I am in from the very beginning and now even more sure I did right.

P.S. The way preview works is just very common these days how to display pictures on the web. Nothing unusual. It is very intuitive, just if you do not see any buttons, click the picture and you will see what happens... [:)]

I don't understand why the price is going up on 3/31/11, when the first volume won't even be released until June 2011, and the set won't be complete for 5 years or so ... just sayin.

I suspect this is Logos' way of rewarding early subscribers. They needed to have an assured (or relatively assured) dollar base to proceed with the project, so they offered an initial lower price to get as many people in as possible. 1,000 people at $699.95 each is better than 900 people at $749.95 each.

Think of Logos as having a three=stage price structure although many resources skip the first stage:

    • Community Pricing - the cheapest price with a product having to meet production costs before it moves forward
    • Pre-Publication Pricing - a discounted price for people who purchase in advance of publication. If the item went through community pricing, these items are under development; if the item didn't go through community pricing if may be gathering interest (production costs not met) or under development.
    • General product purchase - the item is currently available at standard price ... this is where you start looking for sales on the product.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

When the project was first announced, there was also notice that the price would increase as the project advanced.

I just checked the blog, I could not see anything regarding the EEC.

I have to post the thread before I can post the blog. This way i can link to the thread from the blog post. Smile

That sounds Albanian!  Maybe it would be helpful to the uninformed if you put a note to that effect in the preblog post?

Incidentally, I think the blog forum is a great idea, tho I haven't yet got into the habit of visiting it regularly...
