Glad to see a relatively new title appear on CP.

Very nice, and a good title to boot. Now we need The Apostolic Preaching of the Cross.

Peace, Edwin! *smile*
Thank you indeed for the "heads up"! I would have disliked missing this one!
Are my eyes deceiving me or this thing climbing fast?
it's arrived! My biud of $8 has noit (YET) been successful, but no doubt it will go much lower in the next week! If not, of course I'll raise it....
Okay. Why is the book so popular?
out of date - now down to $7.....
I'll take a stab...
Think we can get it to $2 ?
This is the first CP title that I recall that only took 1 day to get enough bids. At this rate, we should be at $2 by next Friday.
I hope Logos does more titles like this.
Okay. Why is the book so popular? I'll take a stab... It's from an author I "know" It's been written relatively recently it's quick rise is probably due to it's small size and consequential lower production costs.
Leon Morris wrote one or two books that were popular with the Intervarsity crowd back in the early 70s. He also wrote a number of the volumes in the Tyndale Commentary series. Here is a bibliography:

What is this? I go to bed -- far too late I might add -- and when I get back to the computer a new CP has already a) been posted, b) gone over the top, and c) gone down in price five steps?? All before I've even had a chance to see it? That's a first! Also, it's the second new CP in a row to go over the top in the first week, which also never happened before in my time here. Good! Maybe that will raise the interest for the CP pages, and make people pay more attention and put in some bids for the slower ones as well.
What I'm wondering, though, is: this isn't public domain yet, is it? Have they ever put something that's still under copyright in CP, or is that another first?
My guess is that the copyright didn't get renewed.
from http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ15.pdf :
"Works originally copyrighted between January 1, 1950, and December 31, 1963. Copyrights in their first 28-year term on January 1, 1978, still had to be renewed to be protected for the second term. If a valid renewal registration was made at the proper time, the second term will last for 67 years. However, if renewal registration for these works was not made within the statutory time limits, a copyright originally secured between 1950 and 1963 expired on December 31 of its 28th year, and protection was lost permanently."
(That's for the U.S. Not sure about U.K./E.U. copyright.)

Ah, didn't know about that. Good for us, but a lousy way to treat a writer.
Now if we had "The Cross in the New Testament" I would have to buy no other, 6x through and won't move from my desk. APC comes in a respectable 2nd.
Anything with Morris is A+
Peace
I put my bid in at $9, it is currently at $4 with a week to go. Let's get it down to $2 [;)]
$3 now!

It's now down to $1. Yippee!!
The Antithesis between Symbolism and Revelation price would be hard to top.

Wonder about community pricing of $ 1 (currently at 40 % of production cost estimate), with $ 3 bid bit over 110 %:
Keep Smiling [:)]
What's interesting is that people seem to be lowering their bids to the current passing level, which indicates that many people don't understand how CP works.
If you bid at $10 and $10 passes the mark, but eventually $1 passes the mark you'll still only pay $1 even if you up your bid to maximum.
Thomas, I understand how the CP works, but I lower my bids all the time. Not everyone is the same and to assume they don't understand because they do something different than you do is not always right!
For example you may have a wife that might look at the current price and see your much higher price and you not want her to have a heart attack so you make it easy on her, by lowering your bid to the current price.
That is not my reason, but there are many different reasons a person might want to lower their bid even if they do understand they will not get charged the higher price.
In Christ,
Jim VanSchoonhoven
If she does the grocery shopping she is less likely to make this error than you. [:D] In Thomas' defense, when issues of CP arise, it is clear than many users don't understand the math behind it. So while his conclusion may not be correct, in fuzzy logic it would be one probable reason for bidders' behavior.
At $3 now, but almost down to $2 with days to go.
We should be able to get it down to $1 by Friday!
I vaguely remember someone from Logos (probably Bob) indicating that if Every Logos User Bid on Every CP item, they would all go for $1.
Can anyone refresh my memory with a more accurate rendition of the above?
I can only agree with you that the statement was said by Logos. What makes something able to be produced under this system is the overall amount of money raised, how many people it takes to do it does not matter to Logos.
I think he indicated that most offerings only have about 400 people bidding on them and that if everyone was to bid on them they would only have to pay 1.00.
If folks really understood this, we could all greatly increase our resources for very little, and see the usefullness of Logos greatly increase!
Close to $2. Can we get it to a dollar or maybe 50 cents? [:D]
I think he indicated that most offerings only have about 400 people bidding on them
If that is true, we wouldn't even need "everyone" to bid to get all prices down to $1; 10% would be more than enough even for 'expensive' items.
