Hide 'n' Seek (Round 1)

***Forum Week event***
"How do I ________ with Logos?"
"What do other users think of ________ resource?"
"I wonder if anybody else would like _________ resource in Logos' format."
No doubt you've had many thoughts like these. But the odds are incredibly high that someone else has already asked (or answered) your question, right here in the forums.
Hide 'n' Seek
Just a heads-up to make sure everyone has a chance to understand how this works: We'll be doing a few Hide 'n' Seek questions throughout the week to give new users a glimpse of what kind of info is available in the forums and to test everyone else's Forum-fu (see Google-fu).
Things to note:
- Each question already has an answer somewhere in the forums. The first person to link to that answer (not to post a new answer themselves) will win. Only answers that were already in the forums can be used.
- The prize is $30 credit at Logos.com
- There are three levels of questions corresponding to three levels of users. Answer the appropriate question (based on your number of cumulative posts).
- If you're the person who supplied the original answer, you're not eligible to win that particular round. (e.g., If the question were, "Does Bob use a Mac or a PC primarily?" The winning post would be the first one that links to http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33729/255130.aspx#255130, but Bob couldn't be the person to post it.)
TIP: The best way to search the forums effectively is to use the following search syntax from Google: [search query] site:community.logos.com
(e.g., Bob uses Apple site:community.logos.com)
Stay tuned for the first round of questions after a we give you all a some time to make sure I've explained everything clearly.

Does the "Hide" part mean it won't be in this particular forum?
No, but that's a great idea! In fact, maybe I should go edit past posts so they don't even appear in "recent topics!" [6]
Actually, the "hide" part doesn't mean anything more than that I have just fallen prey to a danger preachers commonly face as well: I given higher priority to form than I have to content. (No doubt you've sat through a sermon like "The 15 Ps of Propitiation.")
I thought "Hide 'n' Seek" sounded fun [<:o)] ...I really didn't want to just call this "Seek" ...

If you're looking for the ability to find where a chapter range is searched for then Graham's answer is good. But you appear to ask is if you can search i.e. just the book of John with a basic search; am I correct?
I will gladly apologize if wrong, but I don't think this is possible.

Yeah, I also know the answer AND have used it... but I'm on the computer at work. No screenshot. Oh well.

Diving into the Intermediate challenge somewhat more. I wanted to make sure I posted a screenshot of what was requested.
I'm curious now if the originator of the answer (Jacob H.) was using the Mac or PC version of L4 to make his visual filter
Everytime I copy what he did I get a redundant "Yahweh" in my subscript where only "Lord" should be. I attempted the highlighting coutless times and keep getting the same result. Is this a bug?

If you were thinking about KS4J's post here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/32600/243295.aspx#243295 , it doesn't work to restrict a search to John. I tried it.

I think the tack that fgh would take (based on his link to Mark's announcement of the highlighting video) I would guess that one could highlight an entire book of the Bible and then use a basic search on that highlight. But that solution is soooo kludgy that I have a hard time imagining it being useful.

Hey, Stephen, why not make searching the forums more user-friendly – have a search function that actually searches the forums, rather than having to perform arcane searches on other search engines.
That would be more welcome to me (and a lot of newbie users) than special offers.

Since it is so easy to insert code from Google in order to use their search engine on one's website, why not do that instead of directing users to the search engine's own site?

That's a dev-level question. I know they looked at a lot of forum software options and that some really important factors led them to this choice, in spite of the current search functionality. Beyond that, I don't know many of the specifics. Thankfully there are still some ways to search the forums and come up with great results in the meantime.
A genuine thanks for the suggestion. We're always looking for ways to make the Logos products and experience better on every level, which makes user suggestions much more valuable and useful than any of you might realize!

.
Observation: referenced post includes:
Bible intersection includes footnotes with references to book of John along with occurrences in book of John.
Basic Search results included more than book of John.
Apologies, currently not know how to restrict Basic Search inside a particular book, but can find references to a particular book with other word(s):
Screen capture shows Footnote results in a couple Bibles (noted one footnote in Psalms 31), search results included many more resources in my library.

Stephen,
a hint: people like me don't read the forums on the forums; we subscribe to new posts, so, unless we go there to answer something, we don't notice when you add something in an EDIT. [;)] Consequently I didn't have a clue you'd asked for screenshots until Mark's new post, quoting yours, turned up in my e-mail a short while ago.
Sure I did the search, just like Mark did it (using a highlighting style I had created earlier, but knew I hadn't yet used):
What I would like to know is why the search claims that there are two Lord's in v16, when one of them is, in fact, in v 20? Is this a bug, or is there something I don't understand going on? Can someone try this exact search on PC?
I would also like to know why I can't click at the beginning at the text, and then shift-click at the end of the text to mark all of it at once. Instead I had to click, hold down, move the cursor down to the bottom, let the resource scroll to the end, and then release, before I could apply the highlighting. Even with such a short book as Philemon it took an uncomfortably long time. John, which I first tried with, was simply too much. Click>shift-click would have taken seconds. (And now I have to get rid of the highlighting again, which will also take a lot of time!) Again, can someone tell me if this works better on PC?

I get the same results on the PC.
I believe what is happening here is that each pericope in NRSV is being seen as an article. With pericope boundaries being at vv4, 8 & 23 you get the results we are seeing.

Click->Shift-click works as you would hope on the PC. It is easy to do Philemon in a couple of clicks (as all the text is on the same page). For larger passages (such as John) you have to scroll down which can still take a bit of time but works well.
Hope this helps

That makes sense! I noticed that they were in different verses, different sentences, and different paragraphs, but I didn't think of checking where the pericope boundaries were. So, the search is correct, but the display of it is somewhat less than crystal clear. If it displays by pericope, it should list by pericope, and not by verse.

So, another thing to add to the feature parity list...
Though actually I think it's a bug rather than a missing feature, because when I tried to select all of John, it did highlight some, but only a pericope or two at the end, not at all what I had covered. I'll try it out a bit more and write a bug report.
Thanks for testing.

That happened to me on the PC, too (specifically, the select refused to cross chapter boundaries). However, when I tried it again to reply to your post here, it worked fine.
