Let's clean up these Personal Books!

HI folks, I have been looking at the DOCX files people have been kindling sharing on the forums, and I have noticed that they have no Page Numbers!!!

Imagine the furor on these forums if Logos did that Wink

There is an easy way to add Page Numbers automatically once you are all done - this thread tells how and in the third post it has the updated Word macros. It will even clear out old page numbers and add new ones in the right spots if you re-edit the document. It takes seconds to run!

I have added page numbers to many of the source files posted here with no problems, but let me know if you see an error in the macros.

Whilst I would add page numbers for a modern book, getting my hands on a "real" Arndt - True Christianity is slim to impossible, so as real source was not available, I dont see any point in adding ficticious Page nos where they are different to the printed edition

IMHO you are building a reference for a Bible software program, you are not reproducing the original work, that's a little preposterous. If you bought the Arndt book here you would get a table of contents and page numbers. I was only suggesting if you wanted to make the book as useful as possible, with minimal work, given the capabilities of the software, why ignore the obvious...plus some might not know how easy it is to create page numbers which ease the use of the resource a bit if we are going to use it for more than just reading from cover to cover. The original Scriptures had no verses, do we make Bibles that way today?

This PBB that I shared has page number milestones in it. However, this PBB that I shared does not because the electronic version of the file I used did not have the page numbers in it.

Hi! I agree with DominicM. We should use the same page numbers as the original printed versions. If we'll put different page numbering and someone wants to refer to the resource, he will get a wrong page number in his note. That would cause a mess in a long run. So it's better to let the resource without page numbers so that someone who has the printed version can add the numbers later.

Of course we should put our own page numbers in our own works, but that's a different thing.

Yes, because everyone else has the same ones. Page numbers that only I have aren't very useful. If you find them useful for your purposes, that's fine, but there are other, more exacting, ways to reference something in Logos (a link, for example). And if I need a citation to share, I'm going to find the page number in a published edition (and maybe share the Logos link, too).
