Is there a way to display songs that have different words for men and women? We regularly sing these types of songs and I can't figure out a good way to display them. Am I missing something?
Dear Joe,
We have a couple of songs which match this format. The usual convention is to put the second part (say, the female refrain) in brackets, i.e.. I have seen the second part italicised which tends to work okay.
Alternatively, you could preface each line with, 'Men:' and then, 'Women:'. I am not sure that this would look tidy and you would certainly waste valuable on screen space.
Andy
I'm used to making two different text boxes in power point and displaying them side by side. The songs I'm concerned with the men and women sing different verses but at the same time (see attached). I think I can manually make it work with spacing, but it will be a bit tedious.

Ah, I see your problem. This is more complex than the few songs with parts that we do. Our songs tend to be a simple echoed refrain. Transferring this format into Proclaim will not be easy without simply uploading jpegs (which defeats the purpose of the song integration tools).
I still wonder, however, whether alternate lines (differentiated by either brackets or italics) would work? Presumably your congregation are either being led or know the song well enough to understand that both parts go together? Having said this, you know your people and I appreciate this may not work.
It would be interesting to know if you do figure out a work around and would be worth posting here in case others have a similar query.
Just a quick note. I recommend not using brackets since that is the syntax Proclaim uses to identify custom song sections (Like [Chorus 2]). Anything in brackets will most likely be hidden on the slide since Proclaim thinks it is a heading, not content. If your congregation is at all familiar with the song, you should be able to do something like:
Line one for the menLine one for the women
Line two for the menLine two for the women
Grouping sections that are sung simultaneously and separating them with a space should be enough for folks to figure out what is going on. Anyway, just my two cents, and with inflation that isn't worth what it used to be.

Doh, good point, Chris... In my defence it is still way, way, way too early here. Thanks for intervening!
God bless,
I may be missing something obvious, but I don't see anywhere to format specific words in the song slides. How would one make certain words italics, bold, underlined, etc.?
Also, whenever I put a space between lines, it moves the next section of text to the next slide rather than just leaving visual space between sections of lyrics.

May not be PC but we use another package and use different colours pink = women and blue = men...
Hi Trina,
Firstly, welcome!
There are two ways to achieve this.
The first is displayed in the screenshot below,
You will note that I have put Ephesians 2:3 in bold by selecting the tab marked 'B'. 'I' would italicise any selected text. This same UI applies to the formatting of bible text and custom content slides.
On a PC you can use the hotkeys, ctrl and B and ctrl and I, to achieve this (as in Word). Cmd and B and Cmd and I should similarly work on the Mac side, but, as of last week, this resulted in unusual behaviour which has been logged as a bug and is, I understand, still awaiting a fix.
The UI for applying such changes to songs is, in my view, unsatisfactory. Furthermore, in exploring this, I think I have uncovered a bug.
Firstly, select the song slide and then select 'customise' to the right of the screen (as per the screenshot below),
You should then maximise the drop-down labelled, 'lyrics' (as per screenshot below). Here we discover, what I presume is a bug. I presume that we should be able to select sections of the lyric and apply italics or bold to just that section. This does not seem to work. Rather, when I click on 'I', it italicises everything. I expect this is a bug and will report it on a separate thread. Please note I am currently on a Mac, you may experience more satisfactory results on a PC.
I concur that, when editing song slides, a space does shunt text onto a new slide. I cannot see any work around with this. In formatting of bible text and custom content slides, you can adjust the font size (in the customise window) in order to prevent this from happening.
Perhaps the workaround with songs is to either create a jpeg (using CS5, or some other software) outside of Proclaim and then import it into your presentation or use the custom content slide to arrange the song as you wish. Neither option is ideal, particularly if you intend to format numerous songs in this more complex way.
You should then maximise the drop-down labelled, 'lyrics' (as per screenshot below). Here we discover, what I presume is a bug.
