PB: Variant Readings of the New Testament
For those who are interested in the textual criticism of the New Testament, I have created a docx file which contains many variant readings of the New Testament and the manuscripts that have those readings. The same readings can be found at http://www.laparola.net/greco/ where it is also possible to order the manuscripts in different ways. To import this file into Logos4, create a new personal book from it, choosing the type "Biblical Apparatus" (although "Biblical Commentary" works as well, and puts the book in a different section of the Passage Guide).

Wow very nice and a tremendous amount of work, thanks for sharing!
I wonder what document type would be best since it is versified (index 'Bible')- I am trying apparatus, not sure if that will work well, or better than another choice like Bible or Commentary. Thoughts?

Bible Apparatus works well, I think the only difference between it and Bible Commentary is where it ends up in the Passage Guide, and when you jump to a parallel resource. I suppose you could also use the type Bible, again the only difference is where it shows up in the program.

Thanks again, Richard! On my system, this took far longer to compile than any other PB I've done... so much so I started, stopped a few times, & even almost started over. There were 12k + errors (log attached). Should I be concerned about any of them? On the font error at bottom, what can I switch to a different font & eliminate it without disturbing the integrity of what you've done? Many thanks, again!

Yes, it does take a while to compile. But it is big, with big tables, and it does seem that the PB compiler works harder on the tables. So most of the 12,000 errors are about the tables, and can be ignored. You can change the font if you wish, just make sure that it has all the Greek Unicode characters, and aleph.

SWEET! I did a little tinkering with the tables in the back of your apparatus. This is what I came up with so far (its a work in progress)
when you run a search of the file using a passage of scripture it tells you every manuscript that contains that verse. I've always wanted to be able to do this. A long time ago I created an excel file that did a pretty decent job of it but this is far better. I'll post the final product when I'm done. I'm very excited about this. Its as much a curiosity thing as actual usefulness for me :-) Here are the search results I get. It would still need a lot of work but I think it is very do-able.

A good idea, except it needs a bit more (a lot more?) work to work properly. At the moment, it is also picking up Rom 1:1 when the text says something like "Rom-Heb except Rom 1:1-5" (as in D), which is exactly a manuscript which it should not be displaying.

Thanks for your work, Richard.

It took a little longer on my computer than normal, but it wasn't agonizing (5-6 mins), certainly not as long as PBs took before version 4.5. It also compiled without any errors. Maybe compile time and lack of errors are related to my having fewer resources than the average forum reader.
