Crossgrading
Hi guys...I own L4 Platinum *with heaps of extras*...I see the extra functionality of L5 and looked at what it would cost...and it seemed that it was asking for $550 just to crossgrade. Am I missing something? I don't want to upgrade because I already own everything I would want in even portfolio, so I just would like to go from L4 platinum to L5 platinum. Is it really $550 or have I got it wrong? Thanks in advance for any light shed.

The good news is that a free engine download and lower cost crossgrade are coming in the near future. Bob Pritchett explained the future engine download here.

Are you using the Upgrade pricing? If so, the cost is for extra resources in L5 Platinum you don't already have.
The packages have changed a lot. The names stayed the same and maybe they should not have. For example you can 'upgrade' to Gold and get all the new functions and data sets if you want and lose nothing.
Sometime soon there will be minimum crossgrade available separately to just upgrade to the new Logos engine, data sets and features. See Bob Pritchett's discussion: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/58259.aspx

Thank you both TCB and MS - lightning fast replies!!! If L5 platinum has more resources than L4 platinum, not just the functionality (eg. clausal searching, timelines, etc) then how can I see what extra I would be getting...I am finding the dot system on the upgrade page a bit hard to decipher, especially as to what it is referring to.

Same issue with my scholarly-oriented L4. As long as your L4 works well on your computer, do not buy anything. As explained by Logos' CEO we should wait for a cheap crossgrade under $100 that will add some bells and whistles. I have realized recently that I need the most powerful HARDWARE, not software upgrade to run Logos. In sum, You need i7 3rd generation Quadcore, 16Gb RAM and 128 Solid State Drive to get a complete Passage, Exegetical and Interlinear in under 2 seconds! Logos 4 or 5 are no longer for average home computers if you work all day and use original languages...

Me too! I've been moaning about the need of a "legend" to answer the "what is this" question on that page.
