Mine ran the sync for a long time, but then settled down. Why the long sync process when there were not changes to user data?
I restarted after syncing for over an hour, and now it's doing it again...I guess I'll let it run all night. Actually, Logos is stuck on the Preparing Your Library screen this time, so I have no choice.

I ran the reindex now command... with 2200+ resources, it threatened 24 hours... 2 hours later, it's only threatening another 2hr 49 minutes. If only I could get that kind of time warp on the last 3 hours!

Bill

Added export to Search Analysis datasheet
Where is this added? I see the DataSheet option in the search results display. But I don't see anything added since B2. Please clarify.
Look for "Export..." in the panel menu.
Now Thats more like an export! You can now export as CSV W/ more info!!!!

Hey Bradley, dumb question as to where is the L4.0a Beta 3 link?
Oh can I go directly to Beta 3?

Bill,
I have missed the conversation... what is:
1) the benefit to reindexing your library?
2) what are the indicators that one needs to reindex their library?
Thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross,
Check 4.0a b2 posts re possible corruption of index. It was a known bug, & several were counseling that we skip 4.0a b2.
At the point that they posted, I had already installed b2.
To ensure my index is not corrupted, I ELECTED (sans anyone's counsel, only for my peace of mind) to reindex.
Possible indicators are bogus search results. (Most if not all of my bogus results were all cockpit error.)

Many thanks Bill! I am just now jumping in on the Beta and found the download very easy.
Also... I immediately noticed an increase in speed in PG and other searches.
I continue to be impressed and looking forward to full Mac version.

Aha!
Cool! Very cool!
I notice that the exported data is not the same as what I see on the screen. All potential columns are included, regardless of what is selected. I wonder how much consternation that is going to cause.
I would love to see this added to the other search results schemes as well, especially to verses, although if we can get a printable, copiable, or exportable VerseList, that should suffice.

After 45 minutes more of syncing...it's done.

For those experiencing long sync times - 4.0a Beta 2 introduced a sync related upgrade bug when downloading notes and highlighting (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/5605.aspx). To "fix up" the beta users we had to reset your sync data, meaning all creates/deletes needed to be re-downloaded (just like a fresh install).
4.0a RC1 will again reset the sync data, a change required to prevent our non beta users from experiencing the sync data reset when we release 4.0a.

Scott, what sort of data usage are we looking at here? I'm on a data cap......

Depends on how much data you have synced. I can follow up with you privately and give you an idea how much data you have.

Downloaded. Installed. Sync'ed for quite a while (I had to go home so shut down and re-started later - so not sure total time) - No problems
Like what I'm seeing so far.
Thanks for the ribbon control.
Like the background color - some may want more choices - I'm good
Thanks, Logos team

Dumb question of the day:
How do you start a re-index?

Enter "reindex now" in the command box

Thanks Todd!
I actually tried that, except that I put "re-index" instead of "reindex." It did not like that and I was not smart enough to try the other.
Is there a list of commands somewhere?

Added “reindex now” command (NOTE: this currently doesn’t stop the indexer if it’s already running)
Ran the update and reindexed my library. This corrected the problem that I was having, (though not reported here yet), where my Bible Search in Top Bibles, In the New Testament for "Kingdom of God" was not properly filling in colored search result boxes in the ESV for hits. Many were empty that were accurate hits. After a four hour index, they are displaying correctly. Thanks. [*]

however..."reindex now" is not there since it is only in the latest beta. "reindex now" is described in the first post of this thread (on page 1).

[:P] I didn't add it to the wiki since it's only beta. I have since updated your addition to indicate that. [:D]
