Orthodox Wish List
I presume you are following Uservoice for CP's, and for Prepubs, especially Add more Orthodox works.
I'm no longer sure of what we've already suggested to you and what we haven't, but here are some that may not have found their way to you:
- Philip Jenkins: The Lost History of Christianity: The Thousand-Year Golden Age of the Church in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia--and How It Died (HarperOne) (Gave this one to Ben as well: Episcopalian author, Orthodox subject -- you can fight over who can get it first.)
- Olivier Clément: Roots of Christian Mysticism: Texts from Patristic Era with Commentary (New City Press)
- Marcus Plested: Orthodox Readings of Aquinas (Changing Paradigms in Historical and Systematic Theology) (OUP) (but not at that price!)
- Fyodor Dostoyevsky (for CP or Vyrso)
- Older church histories like Patriarch Nikephoros' Short History, The Chronicle of Nestor... (you could do a CP collection with Andrew and include Gregory of Tours, Isidore, Geoffrey of Monmouth... (of course, as a Swede I wouldn't mind Adam of Bremen and Vita Ansgari, but that may be too narrow -- if they're even translated))
- Perhaps you and Ben can cooperate on getting some of the publications from the Fellowship of St Alban & St Sergius?
- Perhaps some Frank Schaeffer to counteract his more famous father? (Probably best for Vyrso) (Might sell among Evangelicals)
Some older more or less Orthodox threads that you may or may not have found:
- SUGGESTION: Fill gap in church history - the desert fathers and mothers
- Open letter to Logos suggestions department, Andrew and other relevant Logos employees
- What do you read repeatedly ... or seasonally
- Commentaries from COePA (Coptic Orthodox)
- If we're thinking globally
- SUGGESTION: Coniaris and Moore
- SUGGESTION: Roberta Bondi retired professor from Emory
- Suggestions posted in a thread other than suggestions
- Dear Logos, to relieve the burden on those with large numbers of pre-publications being released
- Orthodox Lectionary Pastoral Commentaries
- SUGGESTION: What we need from IVP
- Some more books on Mary, for both Protestants and Catholics
- Encyclopedia of Eastern Orthodox Christianity by McGuckin
- Repeated suggestions: Please add any additional that you are familar with
- SUGGESTION: Collection of sermons
- need educating: Eastern Orthodox (non-Catholic) resources
When will we begin to see some more books from St Vladimir's?

I think we're on the same page with a lot of the above ...
We should have several more collections from St. Vladimir's Seminary Press soon, as well as from some other Orthodox seminaries TBA. I've also considered Dostoyevsky, and will be pursuing this further. It covers a couple different areas of interest, which is nice.
I have had discussions with Mr. Schaeffer about not only his own works, but also those of his publishing group (Regina Orthodox Press).
More to come!

wow fgh (wish I know your first name [:)]), this must have taken quite some time to gather/collect. There are some really excellent suggestions in these past forum posts that I did not know about. MJ's (and others') suggestions were wonderful... that must have taken a lot of time as well.So thank you for this effort: it's good that all the work that went into this in the past is not lost.

Did you know / have I already told you that the daughter of the first Christian king of Sweden married the son of St Vladimir and ended up as an Orthodox saint?
I have had discussions with Mr. Schaeffer about not only his own works, but also those of his publishing group (Regina Orthodox Press).
Didn't know that he had one. Hmm... The Truth. What Every Roman Catholic Should Know About the Orthodox Church.[^o)] I'm sure there are lots of things Catholics ought to know about the Orthodox church, but somehow that title doesn't sound... all that ecumenical.[:P]
Further additions:
- Kahlil Gibran
- From the little I've read he isn't one of my favorites, but as a Swede I guess I ought to suggest Tito Colliander.[:)] Can't find more than one book translated, though -- but on the other hand that one is from St Vladimir's, and it's on a Logos Reading List: Way of the Ascetics: The Ancient Tradition of Discipline and Inner Growth. (Ok, I admit, he's Finnish, but he writes in Swedish.)
(wish I know your first name )
Sorry...[:)]

If we stress this: not really. I read by e-mail, and I save Suggestion posts that interest me until I see them on prepub, so these I could have found pretty quickly. They're virtually all MJ's. And the authors are people I recognize as Orthodox. What took time was to find the few Anglican, Lutheran and Reformed threads worth mentioning. That required checking through every single saved Suggestion post, and searching for the correct denomination for an awful lot of people.[:(] It's not always what looks most impressive that takes most time.[:)] But at least it saved time to be able to do it for four denominations at once. Which is probably why I got around to doing it at all.

Sorry...
I just imagined that while typing your username during registration you placed your fingers over the mid of the keyboard and hit the 3 middle buttons consecutively without looking. [:)]
Kahlil Gibran
Khalil Gibran!? wow... I read all his works more than a few times! Now why didn't I think of him? [:$] and he's originally from Lebanon. But hey, even though he was raised in a Maronite home, I don't consider his works to be 'Christian' in the strict sense, (much less Orthodox). His writings are philosophical, poetic and inspirational but that's as close to religious as it gets. Nevertheless, if this quote is not Christian, I don't know what is: "For what is it to die, but to stand in the sun and melt in the wind?"0 -

I did look, and I did do it deliberately, but other than that you are, of course, right. That's all there is to it; no abbreviation or anything.
Now why didn't I think of him?
That's what I wondered.[:)]

I just found we already have Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction vol. 18: Crime and Punishment -- but it isn't tagged as Orthodox.[;)]

Yes, that's a bundle designed for our new Noet product line. However, the Collected Works of Dostoyevsky are on the way.

Yes, that's a bundle designed for our new Noet product line.
No, that's not a bundle; that's an individual book that Logos has sold since long before Noet, and it ought to be tagged as 'Orthodox'.
(Though it's correct that the bundle it was originally part of is now being rebranded and sold as 'Noet' as well.)

Well, I was referring to this, which is a bundle branded for the Noet product line. Yes, they have been around in other variations before.
The Collected Works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky will be tagged as "Orthodox" when it hits CP in the near future.

So, Gabe, when will we see the book you just mentioned on your Twitter feed: http://www.religiondispatches.org/books/rd10q/7644/catholic_church_ordained_women_before__can_do_it_again/?utm_content=buffer7d354&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer#disqus_thread? Sounds interesting.
Elizabeth Behr-Sigel has also written on the same subject, I believe.

Hi Dan, there's a decent translation of the Conferences in this collection from Paulist. They're also in the Schaff set.

I had not seen that, thanks. I put in the order for it, but the amount may be more than I can pay. we'll see when pub date comes. maybe it will be broken up, too. I own the hard copy versions of The Ancient Christian Writer's series, translated by Ramsay. I don't know how they compare. thanks for the tip!
