Copying

Instead of multiplying the number of apps - are we at 5 now - what if there was one app that actually allows me to copy text over multiple verses without including footnote numbers. Oh yea, what about reference information? This seems like a pretty basic functionality. It would avoid me having to go to another bible app just to copy verses when I am preparing messages.

Are you talking about a mobile app or Logos 4 or 5 Desktop app?

The Logos desktop app does allow you to copy text over multiple verses without including footnote numbers (or even without including the verse numbers if you want that).

Check out this option under Tools > Program Settings, and see what happens when you turn it off!

And you can further customize what gets copied and how it is formatted using the Copy Bible Verses tool (also on the Tools menu, upper right).

This wiki page explains the tool including how to build your own custom CBV style if the built-in ones don't suit your needs: http://wiki.logos.com/Copy_Bible_Verses

Oh yea, what about reference information?

Not sure what you mean by that. Could you clarify? Is this still in the context of copying? You DO or DON'T want to copy reference information? And by "reference information" do you mean the verse reference numbers within the text, or the full verse reference for the whole passage being copied, or footnotes, or ... ?

Here, for example, is my CBV style that will copy a range of verses, including verse numbers, and include the reference for the whole passage in parentheses at the end:

It's nearly identical to the built-in one called "Quotation" but I modified it to remove the italics from the biblical text. Here's the code for it:

    %NoCharFormatting
    %NoRedLetter
    %NoFootnotes
    %NoCitation

    =Header

“

    =ForEachVerse
    [VerseText]

    =Footer
    ” ([FullPassageRef], [Version])

BTW, even though your question was a reaction to the announcement of Noet, it doesn't particularly have anything to do with Noet, so once we know what product you're using and asking about, it will probably be moved to that forum.

I'm talking about mobile. From the Noet site " The mobile and web apps launch this fall; next comes an even more robust desktop version."
