Bug - Videos not functioning properly

I've just downloaded the first part of the mobile Ed and start going through the LT151 Logos Academic Training and notice some issue with the video playback.

1. When selecting a different par of the video timeline to go back the video just gave me the spinning or loading icon. I had to select a new video and then go back to this one to get it start playing again.

2. Video will play but no sound. After pausing the video for about a minute and then restarting it began playing sound.

These are sporadic occurrences and don't always happen. I'm not sure if it's the video player taking time to load or if the videos are being streamed.

    Stephen,

I am having the same problem.  I'm also finding that clicking on some of the required reading links takes the entire application down.  I've reported a couple of these and they apparently can be reproduced on the Logos side so hopefully we will get a new release soon.

Hi Stephen, these to me sound like they could be connection issues, but we'll need to see logs to know for sure what is happening. If you run into this again, please grab your logs (see my signature if needed) and respond here so we can track this down.

I'd appreciate knowing which specific links this occurred on and if it happened consistently. It sounds like you've talked to Tech Support, what was their conclusion? We've had a case for this in the past that I believe was fixed, I'd like to make sure there isn't a regression.

    Dylan,

Here is the log. The video takes forever to load. I thought all our resources were downloaded but I guess this isn't the case for mobile Ed (which sucks, I spend a lot of time on planes with no internet). Once it does load sometimes it play properly, other times I get vide with no sound or a black screen with sound. if it does play correctly and I select a spot on the timeline to go back a little bit to review something it tends to freeze up.

You also need to add forward and back controls or a back 30 seconds button.

Also on the iPad when you select the video it pulls up a screen with thumbnails of all the videos for that course, while this looks nice it's basically useless, you have to select the course name in the upper right hand corner to get a list of the videos by name. The thumbnails don't have the video names associated with them so this UICollectionView is basically useless. You should add the names of the videos to the collection view or else just go straight to the list.

    just my 2 cents :)

    Stephen,

We're still trying to figure out the streaming issues on Mac.

In the meantime, you can cache the videos locally for viewing offline. "Download All Media" can be found in the panel menu for the resource containing the videos.

You can also play the videos from the transcript book build. The thumbnails there have the corresponding video titles. Clicking one will bring up the video. When the video is complete it will close and return you to the transcript resource. The transcript resources also provide the structure for the courses with Unit and Segment numbers.

Miles, thanks. I would still like the thumbnails in the Videos collection view to show the titles. The way I have done the last couple is to watch the video on my iPad while following along in logos.
