Videos won't play in Proclaim now

I'm unable to get MOV files or MPEG videos to play in Proclaim now. I'll add the video file to a slide as usual, but then it just shows up as a white slide and clicking the play button doesn't do anything. I'm using a PC laptop running Windows 7.
The Proclaim log file is attached, and I'll reply to this post with the other log files attached. Our next service is Friday, so I'm very much hoping this can be solved before then.

Does this happen with all videos or only certain videos that you try to upload? It sounds like the video has not uploaded (or transcoded) all the way. Is there a red triangle in the bottom left corner of the white thumbnail?

A few other questions: Are you uploading the video to your group, or adding it as a local file; if you are uploading the video, which presentation? If you could also post the proclaim.log file that would be great.

I should have made that clear; I'm not uploading the videos. I'm selecting to keep the file on my local computer only. This has never been a problem before.

The Proclaim.log file is attached to my original post.
It's the "ERI Seminar" presentation.

That is interesting, I am unable to replicate your behavior. If I upload a .mov file and select to keep it local to my computer, It is added immediately and shows the thumbnail correctly. When you add these files locally, do they show up correctly at first, and then show up as white thumbnails? Could you show me a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Also, have you tried uploading the video? And if so, does this work for you?

When selecting the MOV to stay on the local computer, the thumbnail immediately goes white. (Screenshot attached.)
Sometimes if I close Proclaim and reopen it it will show me a correct thumbnail, but then when I click the play button nothing happens.
When I uploaded the same file it went through a lengthy transcoding process after the upload, which makes me wonder if it's a file type problem. After the transcoding was done, I got a black thumbnail, but the video still doesn't play.
I don't think it's a codec issue because my computer can play the movies just fine with Quicktime Movie Player. Is Proclaim having to reduce the movie quality to play it? The file I've been working with for these tests is an HD 3-minute countdown video from Floodgate, and I've tried both the Quicktime and MPEG versions with the same results. Both used to work just fine around four months ago when I was using the same video.
Ultimately I don't want to have to upload all of the movie files. I'm not sure our account even has the space, and regardless, we're not always in a building with consistent WiFi.
Attachment of the second screenshot coming in followup post...

Does the video play when on-air/in preivew? Same question for when you upload the video as well. It should not have anything to do with the type of the video unless it is a type that cannot be played w/o transcoding (since transcoding does not happen when importing videos locally). Have you tried importing an mp4 locally? This would not need to be transcoded since it should play on both platforms.

It wouldn't hurt to make sure these are up to date just to rule this out as an issue. Also, make sure there are no updates for your computer/video drivers because that could cause issues as well. If there is a way you could share that video for testing purposes, that would be great as well (dropbox, email, etc).

Here's a link to the video: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qwl3cxemqqzp89h/AADYSXjS9hX_TFm7druItLfTa
Neither video (local or uploaded) plays in Preview or On Air mode. In both cases it fades to an either white or black slide, and then nothing happens.
I'll try an MP4 next.

MP4 didn't work either. Just a white slide.

Any suggestions on how to check if my codecs and video drivers are up to date? Again, all of these videos can play in QuickTime or Windows Media Player or VLC.

This link seems to have some good ways: https://www.raymond.cc/blog/checking-installed-audio-and-video-codecs-on-your-computer/
Also, please check that your video drivers are up to date and that you do not have any important updates. I will see if I can reproduce your issue on my machine using your video.

Thanks, Spencer. I used the Sherlock tool from that link and it didn't find any problems with my Codecs. My video drivers seem to be up to date as well.

I'm jumping in late here but I want to explain how Proclaim handles video playback. On Windows Proclaim uses Windows Media Player. When videos are added to a presentation and uploaded to our servers we make sure to transcode to a format supported by both platforms. If you choose local file we'll assume you have the proper codec for WMP installed. In your case the best test would be to try to play the local file using WMP. If this succeeds when played directly but not in Proclaim I would be interested in seeing the Proclam.log file from a session which reproduces the problem as well as any WMP relevant information you might find in the Windows event log.
The Proclaim.log file can be found here

Hello Spencer and Scott,
I have this video playback issue for sometime now too...
I do understand that under Windows computer, Proclaim uses Windows Media Player to do the video playback feature.
I have double check that i am running the latest WMP and it seems codec is in working order also too.
Videos i am running to play are not upload, it is actually Proclaim Pro media contents.
i basically ran out of solutions and directions.
kindly look into the issue for me because it is be an issue for my church every sunday.
thanks in advancePS - i have attached 3 log files for you to see if there is any clue that i can't see.

What happens when you try to play the Pro Media videos? Does it play for a little while then freeze? Or does it not play at all?

Sometimes it will attempt to start and you can see the first one or two frames of the video then it will stop.
and sometime it doesn't even start, it just a black screen.
It seems to have happening only on the Windows computer, i've been doing test on my macbook pro for the last 30 minutes and it seems to be in running just fine.

Harry, Assuming your drivers are all up to date I recommend trying disabling hardware acceleration and seeing if the problem is still reproducible. There are instructions on how to do so here. Don't forget to reboot after creating the registry key. If you're not comfortable with this troubleshooting step you can call Logos customer service on Monday and they can walk you through it.

I already posted in another thread but I thought I'd jump in here as well. I am experiencing much the same problem, where the first few frames show (sometimes) and then nothing but black. This past Sunday we had to resort to playing a video from the desktop in WMP (standalone, dragging it onto the projector screen...not the most professional looking!) prior to about 3-4 weeks ago, although video performance was not the greatest, we did not have this problem. I seem to recall that there may have been a Windows Update for my display adaptor driver, which I did install, so it's not a matter of being behind on updates, but I suppose it's possible that there is something in the latest driver update that doesn't agree with Proclaim. Can anyone else correlate a video driver update to the appearance of these problems?

If you disable hardware acceleration per Scott's request (click on the link in Scott's previous comment and follow the instructions) and you can not reproduce the issues you are currently experiencing, then we can narrow it down to an issue regarding the video driver.

Thanks Scott for your support.
it seems the Windows Laptop has naturally fixed itself. I didn't do anything and the video playback is back to normal.
Yesterday was the first sunday where everything went well without any issue.
let's hope the future sundays will be the same
thanks again

no my issue isn't related to Proclaim software nor the internet connection.
just now i discover it is a video driver issue. ATI just released an update on the driver and everything seems to go back into working model.
thanks

I have the EXACT same issue. Sr Pastor and I work on Mac and when we go to play MP4 videos on Proclaim, no go.
So frustrating. I have a conference this weekend and once again an MP4 video that won't play.
Tried everything in the threads...

This must be a different issue Mike. The issues in this are regarding playing videos on Windows machines, which is why a fix in this thread (such as disabling hardware acceleration) would not work. However, I have not run into this issue. Can you play the mp4 videos using quicktime on your computer? Are there any updates that are needed on your computer? Which presentation is this affecting? I would like to take a look and see if I can play the video. A few more questions:
- What version of OS X are you running?
- Does this affect all videos uploaded, or just mp4s?
- Can you play Pro Media videos (or any video that Proclaim provides)? If you can then it is most likely an issue with the video.
- Does this occur when running with internet, without internet, or both?
If you could also provide the video that is giving you trouble that would be great; I would like to see if I can play it myself when I upload it on my machine.

Update - file plays just fine on the Windows 7 machine that runs Proclaim thru WMP. Guess I'll have to have the media op switch out of Proclaim and use WMP to play a video...ack.

Scott,
Im sorry for being confusing - the machine that runs Proclaim is a Windows 7 machine, but I do all my work on a Mac.
Regardless, I downloaded a promo video that we are going to show at a conference from Vimeo as an MP4 file. I have tried both uploading to group as well as local access only and the video will not play in Proclaim. Same behavior as the other users.
The video plays fine in Windows Media Player on the Windows 7 machine so no idea what the deal is. This happens often. Thanks.

Since you are in fact running into this issue on your Windows 7 PC, have you tried disabling hardware acceleration like Scott suggested in his previous post? This has worked for other customers and is a solid workaround while we work on improving video playback on Windows.

I've been having the same issues for about a month now (see the link above). I've tried downloading the reg file and following the instructions, running offline and local, running online and uploaded, and converting my video files to a lower quality, but nothing has worked!0 -
You made sure to restart your machine and Proclaim after downloading the registry key correct?
