Excellent question. Would also like to know the answer to this.

Supply and demand! If enough people think a 40% discount is low enough to justify purchasing these courses, that is going to be the price. There is little point in trying to fight this will consumer lead boycotts, historically they just don't work. The Law of Supply and Demand seems to be as firmly established in the universe as the Law of Gravity.
That being said, the CP experiment did change a lot of people's expectations, I can't foresee myself purchasing any of these courses in the future at only a 40% discount. Logos may inadvertently poisoned the well! What was intended to drum up interest may have the opposite effect.

Keith please stop answering on behalf of Logos and giving them an out on this question. They need to start answering the question themselves, by answering for them you are taking away the need for them to take any notice of this question which has been asked not only by myself but a couple of forum MVP's.

Because Logos wants to make money, not just break even. Its fairly simple. And please don't tell people not to answer questions, its a public forum for a reason.

Disciple of Christ,
I thought it was apparent that I too share in the disappointment that you and “several other MVPs” have that after the success of the John course Logos has decided not to go the CP route. Did you not pick up on the cynicism in my post?
I think we all read too much into Celeste’s original post introducing the John CP. She introduced it as an experiment to see if CP would work for future courses, while in reality it was also (perhaps more so) a marketing ploy to get people to try a mEd course in hopes they would purchase them at the higher Pre-Pub price. To be fair to Celeste her original post was not a promise that all future course would be introduced through CP, perhaps she just meant some would.
The economics of the situation is fairly self-evident as well. All those who bid on the John course will not make Logos one dollar, there bids only pay for the production costs. Since, however, there are so many people required to bid on a CP item, there is a smaller pool of customers who will purchase during that period between going into production and being released. For both CP and Pre-pub Logos only makes a profit from the post 100% people.
