PD101 Resource Links

I own Logos 6 Collectors Package along with many other resources.

There are probable 10 books I do not own that are in this course.

When I try and click on them to see about purchasing the resource it says logos cannot find them.

There has to be some sort of glitch that needs to be worked out.

Also I find it hard to believe that people need to buy your courses and that no matter what package they bought there are many of the resources that are not available.

I hope someone can answer me on this.  I have called sales and tech support repeatedly on this and the answer is always "that is strange we will get back with you on the resources and what is going on"

I am writing this out here because that hasn't happened yet and maybe someone here can explain what is going on.

Can you supply the list- let us check it out ourselves.

Also I find it hard to believe that people need to buy your courses and that no matter what package they bought there are many of the resources that are not available.

Several of the courses require or recommend the authors own works. Most of Elyse Fitzpatrick's books are Vyrso books, not Logos books. That means (a) they can't be part of any base package, and (b) you need to go to Vyrso.com to buy them.

Unfortunately, there's a bug on Logos' website at the moment, which means that if you visit logos.com to buy a Vyrso book, it's not redirecting you. That used to work, but it doesn't anymore.

Here's a link that will show you her books on vyrso.com. I don't know which are part of the course, but hopefully you can work it out. Let me know if you can't.

They are not on vyrso either, that is where it gets frustrating.

Here is an example.  After the first video it recommends you read Remembering his Love BHLM:HCTODL

    Nothing on Logos of Vyrso.

    Really Strange.

After the 2nd video there are 2 that I don't have and cannot find on either platform either.

    We Are the Chosen FH:JIOUC

    and

    Renewing Our Mind CC:CBPLC

Neither of these can be found on Logos or Vyrso either.

I could go on but you get the idea.

Maybe it is a portion of one of her books that is tagged and that doesn't go by that name?

    Remembering his Love BHLM:HCTODL

"Remembering His Love" is the name of the chapter. You have to work out the name of the book from the initials. It's Because He Loves Me: How Christ Transforms Our Daily Life.

    We Are the Chosen FH:JIOUC

That's Found in Him: The Joy of the Incarnation and Our Union with Christ.

    Renewing Our Mind CC:CBPLC

That's Counsel from the Cross: Connecting Broken People to the Love of Christ

The real issue here is that the link from Logos isn't redirecting to Vyrso's website. That's only recently happened, and was reported yesterday. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

So would you mind helping me with the other 10 Resources I don't own?

What information - initials? - do you have about them?

So would you mind helping me with the other 10 Resources I don't own?

    Sure. But try this first:

    • Take the initials in the course, and Google them in quotes: (e.g. "BHLM:HCTODL").
    • You'll probably get two results, both "See Inside" links.

If there's any you can't find after that, I'd be happy to help.

OK, well that officially helped a lot.  Thanks so much. My procedure was to:

    1.    Click and buy (didn't work)

    2.    Call Logos and get them to tell me what books it was.  (didn't work)

Should have made sense to google but I didn't even think about that.

I truly appreciate your help with this.  Have a good day.

You answered something I have been dealing with multiple times for over 2 weeks.

Thanks for pointing this out. It should be fixed and redirect people to Vyrso for Vyrso resources in the next day or so.

    Glad to hear.

Thanks for everyones input on this.

Thanks so much for the google pointer.  I am actually doing the course now and enjoying them.

The videos are ok and all but what really gives the courses their value is to have someone well versed in the subject matter guiding you through resources that they find valuable.

This is one of the biggest things that make me interested in them so not having the links work for me was very frustrating especially when logos couldn't figure it out either.

I should of thought of the forums right off though.  I don't come here enough.

Thanks guys for taking time to lend a hand.

I just bought this resource yesterday (11/02/2019). Five years later this “bug“ has not been fixed. When I open too many books for the screen and logos it abbreviate some with similar initials. It seems like that’s probably a tag In the software should figure out what book I’m looking for. I googled it and I got this post. What’s worse, when I bought it I was told that there was a note that listed the resources. Well I’ve gone to the notes section and it says PD 101 but when I click on it there are no notes there except a Disciple II,  but it doesn’t provide anything I need

Well I’ve gone to the notes section and it says PD 101 but when I click on it there are no notes there except a Disciple II,  but it doesn’t provide anything I need

What you're looking for is found in the sidebar under Bible Study -> Logos Documents, not Bible Study -> Community Notes.

Here's a direct link to the Resources Linked spreadsheet.

Having mentioned that, there is a much easier way to see all of a course's (owned and unowned) resources right within the Courses tool, by opening the course, and looking at the Plan Details.

Clicking on a resource title from the Plan Details should display a link to the product page on Logos.com.

Also note that Vyrso books are now searchable via Logos.com, so you can use that site to search for any title, regardless of which store sells the resource.

(As an aside, when PD101 was originally produced, some of the resources were Vyrso editions but have been since upgraded to Logos editions. If you run into any specific resource issues, please provide details so the Mobile Ed team can correct the Plan Details.)

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

I’m using Logos 8 on my iPad 1 and iPhone 8. There is no Bible study in the sidebar. There are community notes, notes, Bible word study and other tools.   Courses is listed, but when I click on it only two of the PD101 are listed.   Clicking on one only opens up the resource which I’ve already done  I see nothing about plan details.

In session 1  there is a link for  “bones“  which lists “DBI“ as the resource. That does not show up in the list you provided.  DBI is not in the title of any of her resources in Logos

I did type the name of the author, and came up with the “Because He Loves Me Resource....”.    It is listed as BHLM:HCTODL.  I found it in the list, but I find it odd that it doesn’t have that same tag. Also, on all the other footnotes in books in logos when you click on the footnote number it tells you what the resource is even if it’s not in your library.

I thank you for the help but I’m still somewhat confused. I’ve literally spent four hours trying to learn how to do this for a two hour course and I made it through only the first session. I am very concrete sequential. Thus, when someone tells me to go to the sidebar, which I access at the bottom right corner, I expect to see what is stated, such as Bible study. If that doesn’t happen then I don’t know if I’m doing things right.

I thought it might be a dictionary  so I did a search on Dictionary Bible  and other variations but with no luck. I have 15 dictionaries or so so I really don’t need more.    Then I decided to search on Daily Bible I .  It came up with a daily Bible illustrations. I bought it, but apparently that’s not the resource.

Ah, sorry, I didn't know what platform you were on, and described the desktop app environment.

Yes, things are different on the iOS app, and it does not offer all the features that the desktop provides. For example, the iOS app doesn't display any Plan Details, so there is no convenient way to see all the course resources that you may or may not own.

In the iOS app, the resource readings appear within the course. Some are preceded by a book icon, which indicates that you own that resource. Others have a padlock icon, indicating that you don't own them.

Now, it would be convenient if you could get to the store to browse an unowned resource from within the iOS app, but FL doesn't offer that (as they would likely have to pay Apple a commission for selling books through the app). Sorry for that inconvenience!

One option is search for (and purchase) the book at the Logos.com site.

    1. If you type in "Because He Loves Me" in the search box, it shows you the likely resource (which title letters happen to match BHLM:HCTODL). Click on that suggestion to see the search results, then click on the first search result (which corresponds to the individual resource).

    2. You can purchase the resource through the store, and it will then be downloaded and accessible on your iPad, for you to do that course reading.

Is there an alternate way to do this? Yes, via the web app, and you can decide which you prefer.

    1. Open the Courses tool within the web app.

    2. Search for the PD101 course using the Courses tool find box.

    3. Open the course to view its Plan Details (which is also available on the desktop app).

    4. Click on a padlocked (unowned) title from the list of resources (such as Comforts from Romans). A new tab will open with a Learn More button, which brings you to the store, where you can decide to purchase the title.

As for the bones/DBI link you mentioned in segment one, I could not locate that in the transcript. Would you please provide a screenshot so we can see what you are referring to?

I did type the name of the author, and came up with the “Because He Loves Me Resource....”.    It is listed as BHLM:HCTODL.  I found it in the list, but I find it odd that it doesn’t have that same tag.

That was the result of the book originally being published as a Vyrso edition, and later being published as a Logos edition. The tag is generally supposed to stay the same, but sometimes the Logos edition gets a different tag (resource ID). That's why the information in the (4-year-old resources linked) list doesn't exactly match the current details.

One problem with differing resource IDs is that if you purchase the Logos edition, the course won't realize it's the same book as the Vyrso edition. In that case, the Mobile Ed team might be able to update the course to also link to the newer edition.

Please let us know if you run into that problem, and someone from FL might be able to help you.

Oops. I’m bad. In the PD101 has “the omniscient know it all“ cited, which that opens the Faithlife study Bible.  Within the scriptures that we are told to read in this course, Bones DBI is listed in that resource.   Because that resource is cited in the FSB,  which we are told to look at in PD101,  I assumed it was also important to read the resources cited those resources.    However, I shouldn’t have been confused and led you astray as to where it was cited. Sorry about wasting your time on that.

As far as the Daily Bible illustrations, the resource was only $4.95 and I’ve got interested in reading what they had to say back in 1870 so I’m going to keep it.

I guess I need to know if these citations in other resources that are cited in the PD101 are important to read.

    No problem!

I guess I need to know if these citations in other resources that are cited in the PD101 are important to read.

We never know what we might learn, and it's probably worth reading those links, especially in a study bible like the FSB.

Just keep in mind that those articles might have additional links of their own, which might start to go off-topic from the subject of the course. It all depends on how much time you have to devote, and/or how far in-depth you wish to go regarding a topic.

You can always return to a lengthy article that you would like to read later on, by using your choice of note, clipping, favorite, tag, etc., to keep track of it.
