Is a Jewish base-package on the way?

I had't noticed that Logos Bible Software Forums had a Jewish Products section! While, this is a pleasant surprise I wonder if this means a Jewish Base-Package or line of base packages is on the way?

If, the above is the case I tend to think that NOET.com might be a better place than Logos.com to sale/advertise it, unless Logos/faithlife is getting ready to launch a Jewish products website (like was done for Verbum). However, I think the Noet.com site should be a great place to expand and a great place to sale a Jewish product line. After all Noet's bundle display page  has both Noet Classical Greek and a Noet Biblical Greek bundles/base-packages but lacks a Noet bundle for Classical Hebrew and Jewish Studies bundle.

I don't think they have a Jewish Product Manager yet, and that would be a prerequisite to creating a Jewish base package, I think. They've got product managers for all the other denominations that have denomination specific base packages, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think they're on the lookout for a Jewish Product Manager. I don't see a job listing for one. So I wouldn't expect that a Jewish base package is on the way any time soon.

Good point that Noet would be a better platform to sell to the Jewish market. They also need to fix the fact that "Jewish" is listed as a "Christian Group" on the Logos website:

I'm not Jewish, but I've sent them that kind of feedback several times, that a Jewish package is needed... and maybe then, I'll consider buying one.

May I ask why? I don't see Classical Hebrew as having a major literary tradition compared, for example, to Old Norse epics or Sanskrit.

    and who is Pentecostal/Charismatic manager?

I don't know. Maybe there aren't any. I've never heard of them hiring one for those traditions, and had forgotten about that. I knew I was out on a limb there, which is why I qualified my sentence just in case I was forgetting something, as I do tend to do more and more often these days.

They were looking for one a while back.

I suggested the position to my old roommate who now has a Ph.D & is baptist, and reformed.

He wasn't particularly interested. FWIW I don't think we have one at the moment.

hmm, which Jewish Package would that be, Messianic or Jewish, since they dont go along together?  I wouldn't mind to see both though.

They may not have a Pentecostal & Charismatic product manager:

Both, but with a Jewish Starter base-package in common, may be the solution:

Personally I doubt we will see any before L7. Perhaps there will be interesting (and differentiated between ordinary and Messianic) Topical Bundles when version 4 of the Topical Bundles comes out?

    and who is Pentecostal/Charismatic manager?

We've created this forum space for you to request and discuss Pentecostal/Charismatic* products, and for discussions related to that theology.
    * The Pentecostal/Charismatic label really doesn't do justice to either products, authors, audience, theology, movements, or ways of "doing church" that falls under this label. From classical Pentecostals to the "fourth-wave," to neo-charismatics, it's a very big tent. If there was any one distinguishing mark common to all of us, it would, essentially, be continuationist theology (as opposed to cessationist).

Welcome, and feel free to join in the conversation!

    Regards,

Rich Tatum Acting Pentecostal/Charismatic product manager

I do not know anything anything about Old Norse or Sanskirt, but as for Classical Hebrew, it continued to be used for written communication, commentaries, sermons, poetry, wills, and more throughout the centuries before the advent of Modern Israeli Hebrew.

To give you but a taste I have take the information below from an anthology called, The Penguin book of Hebrew verse by T. Carmi. Now, taken in mind the following information is only about Hebrew Poetry, there is much, much, much more that Hebrew was used for!

    1. Biblical Poetry 13: B.C.E – 2 B.C.E
    2. Pre-Piyut: 2 B.C.E – 4-4-5 C.E
    3. (Ben Sira; Dead Sea Scrolls; Talmud; Hekhalot; Alphabetic Prayers)
    4. Pre-Classical Piyut: 5-6 C.E
    5. Classical Piyut: 6-8 C.E
    6. Late Eastern Piyut: 9-11 C.E

    Italy (9-19)

    1. Palestianian-Babylonian influence: Piyut 9-12 C.E
    2. Andalusian Influence: 12-14 C.E
    3. (Seular poetry and Piyut)
    4. Italian-Spanish School: 14:19 C.E

    Germany (10-17 C.E)

    1. Palestianian-Italian influence
    2. Ashkenazi School: 12-17 C.E

And The Golden Age of Hebrew Poetry in Spain (10-16 CE)

    1. Andakusian Period: 950 – 1150 (secular poetry and Piyut)
    2. Christian period: 1150-1492

    Povence (11-18)

    1. Pre-Andalusian period: 11-13
    2. Andalusian and Troubadour School 13;14
    3. Late period (Avignon): to 18 CE

    Yemen (14-19)

    Central and eastern Europe (18-20)

    1. The Haskalah! (Germany: Late 18 CE, Austrian Empire: Early 19; Russian Empire: 19)
    2. Modern (European Phase: late 19-20 CE)

    Palestine-Israel (20 CE)

    1. European phase: to 1920
    2. Palestinian (British Mandate) 1920-1947

Israel poetry: from 1947 (Modern not classical)

And  may we never forget about the thousands of manuscripts found in the  Cairo Geniza.

Jewish Commentaries on the Bible, Mishah, Talmud, and on the prayer books written in Hebrew

    Geonim (650-1250)

    Rishonim (1000-1550)

Acharonim (1550- Present) = After, the 1930's I might not consider this be classical Hebrew)

I fear that to me your list is a better argument for it to be a Logos/Verbum package than a Noet package. But thank you for the information,

Then, who would that be marketed to? (Sure, some of normal users of Logos would buy them, and maybe Messianic= Christians of Jewish decent) But, isn't the whole idea of a Jewish package to market its self to a Jewish audience? And...

In general traditional Jewish students are not likely to purchase a christian software with a cross on it. And, traditional Jewish publishes with works that are actually in Hebrew are not likely to license them to Logos.

Do, you remember that Libronix/Logos3 actually had some Jewish resources that got dropped once Logos 4 with a cross came out? Remember the First Hebrew Primer? Logos lost it's contract with EKS publishing all because of Logos 4's bold cross. I am jumping to conclussion but thist may be why Logos is unable to offer a Hebrew edition of the Mishnah and Talmuds.

However, another scholarly Bible software company has the first Hebrew primer, as well Hebrew editions of the Mishnah, Talmud, and more! Why? I am guessing because they do not have a cross on their packages! But, I know for a fact that  they know how to make contact with and marketed to a Jewish audience in and outside of Israel, too.

However, I think Logos/faithlife may have learned their lesson and the new Noet packages are step in the right direction in my opinion.

Also, my list only really covered Hebrew poetry = Piyyut, but...

There is also Kabbalistic Literature, Philosophical Literature, Musar, commentaries, and of course Halakhic literature all writen in more or less a classical Hebrew style. All, there are lots of them.  I am sure they might be a nice add to the current Logos/Verbum offerings, but it would be nice for them to have a package of their own.  And, it seem like Noet may be heading in that direction.

It's working - just not on that main page. If I click on any of the 4 libraries, on their individual ages I get the dynamic pricing. Thanks!

I would recommend this list, but it's missing plenty of titles, as I have detailed (incompletely) in other threads in this forum.

Well, there's a Judaica sale taking place, and I happened to find some resources I had never discovered on the store.

It does make me wish for the convenience (and savings!) of a Jewish base package.

That package would still need (oft-requested and very needed) siddurim.

Perhaps by the time L9 is ready? What do you think?

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!
