Classics of Western Spirituality: Where is Ignatius of Loyola?

It seems strange to me that the volume of Ignatius of Loyola is not included in Logos's current offerings for the series since it came out in the 90s, and yet we have the volume on Bede which came out in 2011... Did someone skip over this accidentally?

Also, while we are at it, where is John Cassian's Institutes in the Ancient Christian Writers series?  We have his Conferences but not the Institutes.

I agree! I did a search on Ignatius of Loyola and found only three books on him and none of his original writings. Not even a good copy of the exercises. It would be great to have an interlinear version of the exercises which would be possible with Verbum.  So, what have I done for Christ, What am I doing for Christ and when shall we get more of Ignatius's works in Verbum. With apologies to the saint.

Thanks for the feedback Fr. Anthony.  I'll be reviewing all of our major Patristic series (Ancient Christian Writers, Classics of Western Spirituality) for any recently published volumes (or any that might be missing).

I'm not sure why we're missing the Ignatius of Loyola volume in the CWS set, as it predated my time with Verbum.  But I can tell you that I will work to get it added to the set in 2019.

I did recently get new volumes of the CUA Fathers of the Church into Verbum, as well as the new Medieval Continuation volumes that are currently on pre-pub.

If you see any others that might have been omitted please let me know.  I'm thick in the middle of planning for 2019 and want to get all of these Patristic collections up to date as soon as possible.

    Stay tuned....

I would suggest that for the major church fathers and doctors of the church, it would be very useful to have Author Guides (New Resources: Author Guides) to point people who aren't familiar with these authors/resources.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Just another comment on the Classics of Western Spirituality - not sure if the Dynamic Pricing is accurate or effective - but the price is so high for this set.  I have many of the volumes already, but dynamically it is still so expensive.  It is a set I would love to complete, and was disappointed that more of the volumes weren't included in the base packages - I bought 4 different higher level base packages, and still hasn't seemed to effect dynamic price to finish off the set.

I do understand the higher prices for logos resources - and I appreciate the value they bring, it just seems that this set is much higher than it should be, even for a logos resource.

    Hi Chris,

One of the reasons why buying "4 different higher level base packages" wouldn't affect the dynamic price much on the CWS set is because many of the volumes in the set are not Catholic or even Protestant.  For example, there are many Jewish and Native American volumes in that set that are not included in any base package.  The difference between Verbum Diamond and Portfolio, for example, at least insofar as it concerns the CWS set, is only one volume.

Thanks so much for the response - I do know there are a lot of non-Catholic titles in there.  My post was largely concerning 2 issues:

    1) surprise that they weren't in more of the base packages (this stems from them being largely newer titles that I thought would make it into the base packages - even if non-Catholic, they are valuable for Catholic Scholars.

    2) the price of this set seems a bit exorbitant (even for Logos versions).

I know it isn't really related to the main post - but since I saw a posting about this set, I thought I would mentioned my 2 concerns/issues/
