I have tried selecting the note icon against many bible verses but none of them actually open up or show my notes. Is this a bug or is this feature not available in the Web app?

Yes. I was actually accessing the Web app on an iPad Pro using a Safari. I tried it also using Chrome but still could not see any of the notes.
However, when I tried it on a Windows laptop using Edge the notes show instantly when I click on the icon by the verse.

Still not able to access my notes in Webapp on iPad. The following screenshot shows an extract from my Bible with note indicators. Touching them with either finger or iPad pencil results in absolutely nothing happening.
