Needed Feature
There are basic windows features:
- Ctrl+Click and
- Shift+Click
That can be used to select multiple files to work with.
In trying to build a collection that will include over 30 resources 've got them all lined up the Library, but I'm having to drag them one at a time to the include box.
I'd like to be able to use the Ctrl+Click to individually select all the files I want to use, or Ctrl+Shift to pick the whole lot and then drag them all at once to the include box.
It seems strange that this basic Windows feature is either not included, or perhaps it's just broken

Dale, If you ctrl-click or shift-click in the library anywhere but the resource title, it should work. It's not natural, but it's better than nothing. I have suggested that they allow this functionality also for resource titles as this is the natural place to "click" when selecting an item.

Thanks Damian, like Dale I was struggling to work this one out.

You're welcome Andrew. I only know this because I asked for the feature and Bradley said it worked. I had to play a bit to work it out.... I had just assumed it didn't function as I think most will with the current setup.

I've tried using the library, I've tried the list that forms below the collection box when I give it a rule -- I've clicked the title, I've clicked and highlighted the entire box (it turns a light blue) and I've gone all the way to the bottom of the list only to find that it isn't working for me, or at least on my system. It is grabbing a single volume, but I'm trying to build a collection for Wesley's Notes and I don't have the patience to do them one book at a time, not when Windows should allow it.
If you've got another hint, I'm more than willing to try it, but as I just said, I tried from the library, and from the pick list, and it didn't matter where I clicked -- I couldm't make it work

Ok. Got that. I didn't realise that the function didn't work for collection creation and should have tried it before offering the suggestion.
Even worse, when I ctrl-click selected three resources from My Library and dragged them over to the collection pane, all three resources opened.

Dale, I am sorry I don't have Wesley's Notes to give you a specific answer on this but try the following rule in the commentary collection builder
type:bible commentary series:Wesley
To build a collection for Luthers works I use type: bible commentary series:Luther and that does the job.

Thanks Andrew -- you're right on -- typing "Wesley's Notes" in the rule field created a list of 66 books down below that are part of that group. Unfortunately, as soon as you need to add a second rule to add more resources, the first rule is over written, and you only have the latest rule. So, what I found was that I needed to find the "Work's of John Wesley" and move them up to the "include" box, and then I can have "Wesley's Notes" down below.
But, when I want to include John Fletcher and John Owen's works in this collection of Wesleyan resources, I'm still limited to the one "rule" field (unless there's a way to generate multiple rule fields that I've missed"
But thanks again -- you've at least got me going with a collection of John Wesley's works and notes. Appreciate that very much

Dale,
If you open your library in a seperate panel you can drag all of the resources you want from the library panel into the "plus these resources" section to complete your collection.

Dale,
you can type the rules like so:
type:commentary AND title: "Wesley's Notes"
and the presence of the "AND" in upper case should allow both terms to be modifiers. You can also use ANDNOT as a modifier.

Thanks Kenneth -- yes, I can drag those 66 resources to the plus field, one at a time. What I can't seem to do is highlight the entire group and then move all 66 in one fell swoop. That's my frustration.
I'll keep trying -- there's got to be a way, unless it's broken or that basic windows feature is just not available.
Thanks again and have a blessed week
