New Download issue....

This is a new install I never had Logos before. I installed it last week and it worked for 1/2 a day. Then the next day it went back to indexing. I let it do that for over 48 hours and decided to dump the program and start over fresh thinking there was an issue with the install.

I have been downloading / Indexing the Mac 4a version for over 72 hours now. Whats up with that? Should it take that long?

The blue icon on top of my screen still says stage 1 of 3 and Calculating time remaining.....

Please help........

I went through the steps and found an issue. I downloaded the nlog.config file then went to the next step and ran into a problem. I don't have a Logos file in my "finder". The only one I could find was int the Applications folder and I cant click on it...

Now what ??????

So, under /Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/ there is no Logos 4 folder? Am I understanding your correctly?

Now I am at the point I was at the last time i tried this. I now have the "Preparing your library" icon spinning and I have the "Preparing to compress to Archive.zip" icon spinning. Both wind up in a never ending process.

Again, I'm confused. Are both Logos and the Archive utility open at the same time? If so, close Logos before grabbing the log files and compressing them. After all, if Logos is eating up all your processing power by being stuck in a loop, there isn't much left for Archive utility to do its work.

Nope your not confused - seems like you are on top of it. Yes both were running. After reading your post i hit Pause Indexing for 4 hours. Now I am Zipping away - looks like it will take some time. It says it has 34.81GB to zip. Does that sound right?

No. Sounds like you are zipping the entire logos folder. You only want the two log files stored in Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Logging

The files i archived seemed to be the ones from the video. He said top three files. The ones i did were from the Logging file Logos4.log, indexer.log and Console...sages.log.

which ones should i have archived?

These are the correct files. Hmmm....What are the individual files sizes? 38 GB is a huge file. My archived logs are only about 1 MB. One of these files must have gotten REALLY big. To find out how big a file is, if not listed in the Finder, right click and select "Get Info"

Lets see now....

Console....sages.log is 45KB

Indexer.log is 4KB

Logos4.log is 41.82 GB

Your logos.log is ridiculously huge. A 15 has been open for several hours and my log is only 4.3 MB. A logos developer my have a better idea, but here is my suggestion: compress the indexer and console messages and post them to the forum--since your issue seems related to indexing. Move the logos4 log to another location for the time being so it doesn't get deleted by an app restart. (in case the devs want info from it--or register it for a world record [:D]) Then close and restart logos 4. If the problem re-occurs, hopefully your log files will be at a more manageable size.

That's an excellent idea. That would be very helpful. I'd really be interested to know what is in your Logos4.log.

I have a new twist. I did what you said and moved the Logos4 log onto my dest top. The one that remains in my logging file is growing quick. It is about 160 MB now.

If you have a Windows computer (or VM) you can install the Windows Engine on it. Your license allows you to install the software on as many computers as you personally use. This includes Windows, Mac, or Iphone. Its up to the devs to come up with a solution to resurrecting your Mac install--I'm out of ideas. (Have you restarted your Mac recently? If not try that. You never know, it might just work)

Thanks man... I appreciate your input. I would like to get rid of this growing monstrosity on my Mac though. I think if i leave it run any longer it will consume my hard drive.
