Stop Creating Notes When You Highlight a Verse(s)
I started to highlight verses in an Inductive Bible study. I did not realize when a verse is highlighted it creates a note. I discovered this after I highlighted several verses — what a mess. I have a ton of notes to delete. How can I stop creating notes when I highlight verses?

A highlight is a kind of note. You can't make highlights that don't show up in the Notes tool. This was true of Logos 7 as well.
If you don't want to see highlights, you can easily filter down to your notes by clicking Notes under the Type filter in the left sidebar.

Les, this was a change a number of years ago that actually has proven to be a great improvement. It is really easy from the notes window to filter to just see your notes and not your highlights (Do this by clicking the three lines to the left of the search within the notes window. Let us know if you need help).
The good thing is that you can do the opposite within your resources. You can see only your highlights and focus on your highlights on just a single book of the Bible or another book you've been highlighting in.
But again, if you just filter by "type" to only see notes and not highlights it will no longer look like a mess

Your suggestion does work however when I close the notes & re-open them I have to use the filter again. If I continue to use the Inductive Bible marking features, the notes will grow exponentially. For example, I have 196 notes (highlighted verses) for the book of Philippians & I am not done marking this book. The solution is not to use the Inductive Bible study in Logos 8 when marking a book or books.
Back to paper. I will use my own Bible & the Inductive Bible method of marking.

I would reconsider. The good thing when you have a resource completely marked up is that you can search for a specific highlight style (like everywhere where Glory of God is talked about if you are using that style). Your in-text notes are different, called out with the note icon and also searchable. So in practice when you are going back to interact with your notes, you will find that it is not a problem at all and actually a feature.
I actually feel your pain, when Logos made the change a few years ago, I was not a fan initially, but once I learned the workflow of highlights as notes it was preferred. Now Logos 8's new notes structure actually does make it better and even easier to interact with and gain from the hard work of your notetaking (at least in my experience).
I've been using Logos since it was Libronix (2-3), starting in about 2000. I've seen notes change so many times, and there have been growing pains each time. I take notes and highlight extensively each day, and even though I've had to tweak the way I manage notes and highlights, I can say that in my opinion these changes have been an improvement (and the MVP star has nothing to do with that statement; I am the first tell Logos when I think they are on the wrong track and I don't flatter or sugarcoat problems that I see).

Since I am a new user of Logos, I will reconsider after reading through your reply. Thank you for drawing attention to searching my markups. I never considered this feature. Your experience and advice with Logos will help me going forward as I study Gods word.
Logos is a leap forward for me going from paper to digital. I am impressed with Logos 8 and the work that has gone into developing this program.

Alternative to manual highlighting is using visual filters. Thread => more inductive symbols includes many screen shots.
