I have had problems closing both Alpha 13a and 14.
When I try to close, all I get is the color pinwheel and I have to force close every time.
It doesnt matter whether I am closing from the home page window or a layout.
Any ideas?
thanks
jac
Yup, post your logs so the techs can see what is happening.

I am experiencing the same problem. Do you need my logs too?
The more logs they have, the more information. The more information, the more likely they are to find the problem. If the dev team gets too many logs, I think they will tell us.
victor,
have you found a solution yet? This is driving me nuts. I am thinking about reinstalling since it seems like we are the only two with this problem, but it took forever for all of the library building and indexing, I don't want to have to do all that again.
Have you guys submitted logs? Also, you can copy the various indexes and resources to an external so that you don't have to download and reindex.
Jac,
Do you open with a previous layout or with the home page showing up?
Are you running any particular guides before you close?
Can you post a screen shot or two of your set up that might give us a clue to what's going on?
Tom
Sure. See my questions to Jac above. If you can post a screen shot, that might help since there are some known issues with guides (particularly Bible Word studies in Greek) that should be fixed in A15 (due sometime next week).
thanks,
was begining to feel like nobody loves me.
Both. Neither home page nor previous layouts seem to matter.
no guides running before closing.
Thanks so much really appreciate your help.
Jac, I re-read my post and I think I was unclear. Can you post a screenshot of your whole Logos 4 window so that I can see what layout you're having trouble closing?
Also, can you try this:
Close each panel one at at time using "Cmd-W" and when you find one that doesn't close or hangs the app, post a screenshot of that too. That might lead us further down the path.
Thanks,
Tom,
Sorry about that. Actually, I am having a problem closing from the home page as well as any screen layout. It always hangs up on closing and I have to force quit. I did open my favorite layout and closed each panel, one at a time like you suggested, but none of the had a problem closing I was left with no open windows, yet it still hung up when I quit.
I am including a shot of the home page. Hope this helps.
I was hoping that A15 would solve my problem, but alas it does not.I sent the screen shot you asked for and tried several other suggestions I found in other emails, like checking the start home page screen at start up but nothing helps. i am still having to force quit every time. I hope you can help me with this.

I have had the same problem, though too busy to report here. Attached are logs closing an empty workspace. 1447.Logos4.zip
Success at last.I am not sure what happened but I purchased a copy of Metzger's "Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament" and that forced Logos4 version 15 to re-Index. After that long painful process,, my home page came up normal and Logos4 shut down properly. In addition, it is much more robust now.
So I guess I had a bad index. Or something. The solution seems to be either buy a new resource or figure out a way to re-Index. Anyway, it works.
Jac
For future reference: You can force a re-index of your library by typing rebuild index into the command bar (near the magnifying glass) and selecting the appropriate command from the drop down menu
Can we just copy our PC L4 index and paste it into the folder for the L4Mac? I recently had to do a complete re-index on the PC and would sure like to save the time in doing it again. If so, which exact files should I copy?
Theoretically, yes. But this might not be the best idea. The Mac is tracking the most recent branch of the shared code base, so it is actually ahead of the Windows engine in this department [H] The index may not be compatible However, if you want to try it, you will need to copy the LibraryIndex folder from Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<random character string> to (I think) C:\Documents and Settings\<yourusername>\Logos 4\<same path as on Mac>. Perhaps someone who uses Logos 4 in a VM can confirm the windows path for you.
P.S. I just re-read your question. Gave you the steps to copy your Mac index into your PC install. Just do what I told you to in the other direction. Indicies SHOULD work
Doing a complete re-install might not be a preferable solution considering the time that it takes to download and index, but it should work. Starting with A14 I had to force quit every time. It continued with A15. So I uninstalled, deleted leftover files, reinstalled and it works like a charm.
Maybe you can save the download time by saving the files and copying them into the new installation, but I wasn't clever enough to figure that out. I imagine the indexer might have improved since I originally used it, since it took what seemed like half the time (and includes more books!).
