ATTN: Guides - Stop Feature - Who wants this
Please post your opinion here regarding the current implementation of Guides. The issue is a guide can only stop generating results by either closing the panel or starting a new search. I'm aware that usually when you open a guide aren't really looking to make the same search that you did last time, right?
Solutions:
1) Create a button to 'Stop' the query
2) A new guide opens blank each time

George,
A huge Yes to both...(but how about on #2; it opens to the active passage? isn't that what V3 does?

Yes I like your addition to the 2nd solution.

Yes and Yes. And only open to the active passage if in the sense of put it in the search box, don't start running the guide...

Between the two I say both. Open me to paused screen, but also allow me to stop the whole process and restart just the processes i want. Either that or when you click on "New Guide" or one of your other guides open a box right below the name where a range can be entered. Have as the dropdown list for the box something that looks like this....

don't start running the guide...
I agree, I'd prefer the software to wait for me to confirm that I want the last guide rebuilt rather than wasting my time running reports I don't want.

I think the flexibility in v3 was useful in that it did not automatically start to run, but more importantly for me I could run the different sections of the report, turning them of or on as I needed. It also speeded things up in 3.0 in generating the report in the first place (this may not apply to v4 from what I have read in other posts).

2) A new guide opens blank each time
In Beta 2, Guides will not start running automatically when they're opened from the Guides menu. (They will still remember the last reference you used, so you can re-run the last guide by pressing Enter or clicking the "Go" arrow.)

That's a good partial solution, but we need some kind of a stop button as well.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I vote both.
I want a blank guide 95% of the time. I also want to be able to stop a query.

Bradley,
that is fine with me also....

I agree. This is a good solution. I liked being able to stop the guide in V3, and would enjoy having one in V4, but the guides run quickly enough that it isn't as high of a priority for me.

I like the solution. Automatic loading of the guide on any passage would annoy me, even if it loaded the active passage (for instance, would it know I want a particular verse range rather than a specific verse?) A stop button could be nice but I don't care as much about that, would prefer an empty guide ready to go when I open it up.0 -

Its a fair solution for beta 2... beta 3 needs to include stop button.

I'd like the stop button as well.

Stop button is essential and the option of starting with a new blank guide would be great.
