How to prepare your own interlinear Bible?
Dear friends in Christ,
I am currently taking Koine Greek, and just for course practice, we would like to prepare our own Greek to Chinese interlinear Bible (just a few paragraphs...). The concept is easy enough with pen and paper, but when we started to type things out in Word, it was simply impossible to keep the alignment.
So I was wondering if there is a software specifically designed for this purpose (making interlinear Bible)?
Thank you very much in advance.
Joanna

I like your squirrel.
Have you tried using tables, to hold the alignment (in Word). Alternatively spreadsheet software. And Logos personal books support tables.
Someone else may know of affordable interlinear software.

As you're working with Chinese, I would recommend using Microsoft Word's Phonetic Guide feature.
LaTeX can do interlinears, but it's not easy to use.
Or try SIL's Field Linguist's Toolbox.

Hi, Joanna,
Thank you for the question. We have Traditional Chinese Reverse Interlinear Bible available and I am not sure if this will help you with your study?
Thanks,
Best regards,
Philip

Dear all,
Thank you so much for your kind reply!
I spent some time learning the Field Linguists' Toolbox. It is a wonderful tool but we are a little overwhelmed by its complexity. We also don't have a good Greek-Chinese dictionary to do the interlinearization and parsing. Unfortunately, there are too few resources for biblical studies in Chinese.
I also checked out Logo's Chinese Reverse Interlinear CUV Bible. I am so glad this resource exists! It is really going to help me learn Greek! Alas, what I am looking for is the reverse, aka. a Greek-Chinese Interlinear.
So for now, I am working off the Greek-English Interlinear as a template and replace the English translation by the Chinese translation. This is actually a very good exercise! It helps me see where the translation does not fully match the original Greek text and gives me a lot of food for thought.
Thank you all for your reply. It's so nice to have this caring and resourceful online community!
P.S. The chipmunk is me with the Verbum software. There are so many goodies. I don't know which one to read first!
God bless!
Joanna

Hi Joanna,
I do not know how this will work with your Chinese characters, but the best trick to keeping English characters aligned is to use a non-proportional font (it could also be referred to as monospaced, fixed width, or even fixed pitch), such as Courier.

Sorry to dig out an old thread. Did anyone know if preparing a Bible in either of these formats (including LaTeX) can be accepted to be published in Logos?
Background: I'm considering converting a database an old brother developed which contains all reverse interlinear information for CUV. So a programmable target format will be needed.

Logos have already produced a reverse interlinear for the CUV.

I knew, I preorder it and was super excited about it.
but what I’m talking about here is different, the secrete sauce is in the original-chinese interlinear which are done according to the root, something like Interlinear Scripture Analyser but for Chinese. The CUV as main text for the reverse interlinear is only because his previous work using recovery version has been, ur, suspended.
