Catholic Study Bible V2 vs V3 NABRE
Compared to the Ignatius Study Bible or the Navarre Study Bible, I don't view the Catholic Study Bible as quite as good. However, it has been on my wish list for some time. I already have the NABRE in Verbum, so I just need the Catholic Study Bible which has the commentary.
I just noticed that Accordance is running a very good sale on the Catholic Study Bible 3rd Edition. So now I'm wondering if the Verbum offering will shortly be upgraded to the 3rd Edition? It's supposed to be like over 30% new material. This brings up 2 questions:
1) Will Verbum be offering the Catholic Study Bible 3rd Edition anytime soon?
2) If I've already purchased the Catholic Study Bible 2nd Edition before the 3rd Edition is offered do I get the 3rd Edition as a free update from Verbum or do I have to buy the 3rd Edition separately as a new purchase?

I don't know.

Probably not; it's like buying the third edition of a second edition print book in that regard. I suppose there might be a promotional discount offered, if creative marketing is used (and the publisher agrees). It will cost FL money to prep/tag the 3rd edition, and it must be recouped somehow.

Thanks. I suspected as much. I just purchased the 3rd edition from Accordance and I'll take this off my wishlist for Verbum. Accordance seems better in the upgrade pricing aspect on newer editions where you already own the previous one. For a long time Accordance was the only serious player on the Apple side of the house. And I'd owned it for over a decade when Verbum came out. I've made a substantial investment in Verbum and they've done an outstanding job with a MUCH greater breadth of Catholic literature than I was ever likely to see in Accordance. But certain items like this make me glad I've continued to upgrade my Accordance software when they come out with a new version.

This is on my list of resources to license. Hopefully we can have it in Verbum by the end of the year.
SineNomine is also correct regarding the purchase of the new edition. It would essentially be a new book that you would be purchasing.

Craig,
This brings up a good general question. Would the 3rd edition appear in Pre Publication? Or I guess, the other part of that question is do all new offerings show up in Pre Publication first? I've already long since gone through everything in Verbum's catalog and culled what I don't have but am interested in into a wishlist. I don't revisit the general catalog and solely rely on occasional trips to the Pre Publication page to see if there's anything else I'd like beyond what's already in the wishlist I'm slowly whittling my way through.

Patrick,
It would likely appear as a pre-order. We're shifting away from pre-pub whenever possible, as a pre-order will get the books into the software more quickly. Pre-pub going forward will be reserved for more riskier ventures when we are less certain of customer response to a given resource. Either way, it would appear on that pre-pub/pre-order page.
