Thanks for that reminder. I do often use tags and library filters to help in a first pass creating a collection. In this case I wanted to examine individual books that had come up in my filter and see if I wanted them in my new collection. I could have added another tag to them one by one as I decided "yup, this one goes in the collection" but I don't like to create a huge proliferation of tags, especially ones that are in a one-to-one relationship with collections. However a temporary tag would have probably done the trick. The only problem is, when you've already got the collection and you want to add the newly selected/tagged titles to an existing one, "Save as Collection" is another level of indirection. Yes you could then add that inconsequential partial collection to the collection you're building up, but then it clutters your list of collections, as it has no other purpose other than to help you build up a larger collection. Personally, I'd rather be able to drag several titles at a time into a collection.

EDIT: Actually, using a temporary tag to do this task doesn't help either, because every time you add a tag, the "Updating library catalog" message comes up, and as soon as the catalog is updated, the Library scrolls back up to the top again, so you have to scroll back down to where you were working your way through the filtered list of books.
