Each time I open L4.0 I receive notice of an update and the update is always the same...1.3 mb. I never see any indexing happen after the download is complete and I have no idea what this perpetual update is. Can anyone tell me how I could find out?
You need to post your log files
Will the log post tell me what is downloading?
I dont believe so (I could be wrong), but it will tell us where your program is hanging up.
The Logos4Indexer.log will tell you what's downloading.
Posting it here will tell us what's downloading.
Thanks. I will do so as soon as I get the chance
Both logs will tell us the complete story!
Here are the logs
1346.Logos4.log
6136.Logos4Indexer.log
It's the Journal of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, volume 10. The error message suggests a server error at Logos' end.
The Update Manager thinks that 'LLS:gs_jbmw_10' is out of date. As a workaround we can fix that by renaming C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Data\2ruxd5bv.5ed\UpdateManager\Updates.db.
Note: the update causes a server error so that the resource is not downloaded, nothing is indexed and Update Manager will try again!
Thanks guys, but before I try your work around...
I am missing vol 10. I have a ranking of vol 1-11. But ranking 11 is vol 12 and ranking 10 is vol 11. Ranking 8 is vol 8. I would therefore guess that a download is trying to add on the missing volume but it never happens.
Is it therefore a bug? Is there something that needs to be reported on the server end?
The same situation occurs here http://community.logos.com/forums/t/13538.aspx?PageIndex=3
It is not certain that the original cause was a missing resource but L4 is in a loop because the server error causes the download to fail (Logos should pick up on this, but I'll create a bug report to be sure). Try the workaround and see what happens!

I don't completely understand this fix. What am I supposed to rename this file you mention above to? I have this file. So what should I rename it as?
Rename to Updates.old or similar (it doesn't matter as long as you can recognise it and change it back to the original name if necessary). It will be recreated when L4 starts again.
Okay. The workaround worked. Now should I delete the old updates file?
Put it in the Recycle bin for a while!
