Installation of base package stalls on new Macbook Pro

I have tried everything I know to download Logos onto my new MacBook.  Nothing has worked.  It will start downloading and then stall every time.  Sometimes it downloads a lot, sometimes. not hardly any but it always stalls before completion.  I don't get a notice of failure--it just stops.  Any ideas?  I've rebooted, I've checked the firewall, I've deleted all other downloads, I've updated my computer software--nothing works!  I don't have an ethernet port or I would try that.
