Sermon Editor Ultimate Version Request
For the record: I’m willing to pay for this feature upgrade if it was available.
The Ultimate Sermon Editor feature would be similar to a fully functional Microsoft Word document but with other enhancements. It would have the ability to:
1. Insert pictures that zoom in and out anywhere I want to insert them.
2. Justify text.
3. Spell check English and Spanish and other languages as well.
4. Insert tables and diagrams.
5. Incorporate pages and jump page number so you don’t have to scroll all the way up or down or middle to get to where you want to be.
6. Do and Undo buttons.
7. Insert symbols (especially like those in the inductive Bible study ones — even emojis).
8. Change lower case text to ALL CAPS or ALL CAPS to lower case by highlighting and pressing a button.
9. Insert date and time
10. WordArt
11. And definitely the “start inking“ functionality that can be available and possibly replace F8 drawing mode all across the board because it will be better in terms of choosing color, line thickness, erasing only what you want or everything at once, etc. This would be awesome to present from the screen like the Look at the Book Labs by John Piper.
In short, it should have all the functionalities of Microsoft Word but on steroids so we can write our sermons in the Ultimate Sermon Editor instead of writing it in Word and then copy and paste it into the sermon editor; which at the moment when we copy and paste it loses its original format.
This will also make Logos the ultimate Bible Software in the entire universe. We would have all the tools needed for sermon preparation in one place 👍😁👌
I copied most of the ideas from another Spanish user in the Spanish forum. I think it’s doable and Logos will have a lot to gain!

Ok, here's an additional thought: I don't want FL to stop doing what they're doing with the Sermon Editor as far as having it work together with Proclaim and stuff. I want them to keep that and improve it if they can. But...what I do want is an Ultimate Sermon Editor that can be fully functional to the point you could actually present from the Logos screen and pinpoint the outline, mark it up/highlight in "real time" (Live), and click on Scripture references so the Bible can open right next to the Sermon Editor and you could still open up other resources through links inserted in the Sermon Editor. This would make for killer interactive presentations during Bible class and why not, during sermons too.
Presenting from the the screen is becoming more popular; especially, when showing tutorials of how apps work or even what John Piper does with the Look at the Book labs; except Logos Bible Software would be on the screen containing your outline, your preferred Bible, pictures and links to other resources -- and you could even open up a tool or show other stuff. That would also help market the software so people can see what it does and that would definitely generate more sales.
I bought Accordance, because they sold me into the "Present from your screen" idea (besides them having CARTA resources, of course!). Trust me, it has worked like a charmed in the class room! Power point is becoming a thing of the past, especially in the class room. We need more interactive tools so people won't be looking at slides with corny swivel effects and what not. Anyway, here's a picture of my screen, I just made. Pardon my mess, but I just made it fast so I can show you what I mean:

Here are two Accordance samples. One with a picture that has been inserted in the outline and mark ups and the other with the picture zoomed in a pop up window to make it bigger. Not so fast, until it has improved graphics, along with Carta and PBB accessible across all platforms, and a Hebrew audio bible, along with fully tagged bible reference and subject headings in ebooks, it can not be considered the ultimate bible software in the universe.

Think about it:
1. Professors teach from their screen.
2. John Piper teaches from his screen in classrooms.
3. Training videos by both Logos and AccordanceBible are made by recording the screen.
4. Tutorials and lessons are made by different people on YouTube by recording their screen.
5. We teach from a screen too to make it more interactive. By doing this 2 men in the church where I teach bought Logos one Spanish Premier the other one the top BP Salomón. Also other students in a school of preaching bought Logos and are currently teaching from their screen too because PowerPoint is becoming boring and at times distracting with the so called visual effects.
So think about, teaching from the screen is here and it’s here to stay. We already have the tools, we just need to improve them 👍😁👌 Enough said!

I agree this suggestion has more chance seeing the functions you and your Spanish source have suggested and it is really needed to make the software more functional for those who teach - but without these other things it just won’t be the ultimate software 😜.
A universal translator would be nice too that automatically takes a german or French text say and translates it into English or takes an English text and automatically translates it into Spanish - we can dream. For without dreams great ideas never become a reality.

I really like your ideas. If I could only choose one I would want an undo button. There are so many times I have deleted something by mistake and had to go back through and search for a ref. or redo slides that I accidently changed.

I support all of these improvements as well, but this thread has reminded me of some wished for changes of my own that I would like to see--but the improvements I would like to see are related to the way the the sermon list is displayed in the Docs menu. When I look at my sermon list, what I see is the title and date last edited. What I would like to see is much more: Which ones have I delivered? Which ones are still in draft form? How do I group the sermon list by topic? By passage? By delivery location? I think all of these things would be helpful to quickly see at a glance. Much of this data is already stored in the software. I would almost recommend that sermons be lifted out of the Docs menu environment and treated on its own somehow. Its an entirely different kind of asset as opposed to a canvas or a passage list.
Just my thoughts.

I support all of the recommendations shared on this thread, but when I think of sermon editor improvements, my thoughts are on the way sermons are presented in the Docs menu. Right now, when you limit the list to sermons, what you see is the title and the date last edited. As I look at that, I am wondering: Which ones have I delivered? Which ones are still in draft form? Which ones have I tagged under topic X? Which ones are primarily on a passage from the Book of John? Which ones have I delivered at X location? Much of this data is already stored in the software, but just not immediately visual. I would almost argue that the sermons asset needs to be lifted out of the Docs menu and presented separately, elsewhere in Logos, as it is an entirely different asset from say a canvas or a passage list. That is, it would be meaningful to see more than just the title.
Just my thoughts.

14. Shortcut Keys for headings and styles.
The google docs shortcuts works in the sermon editor.
To headings, for example, you can do ctrl+alt+[1..6]

Also: The ability to insert customized links to other resources. I know we can copy and paste from the commentary into the sermon editor and it will create a link but that’s useless because you cannot edit the content you pasted. It’s better for us to copy and paste and then create a link to the specific location; also insert links to the Internet, pictures, etc.

The google docs shortcuts works in the sermon editor.
To headings, for example, you can do ctrl+alt+[1..6]Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware of these shortcuts. However, it still would be nice to be able to assign a shortcut keys to styles and also to have traditional outline numbering made available.

I would like a sermon editor that has a mind meld feature. I think about a passage and the sermon is created for me.
What would be great is if it could be combined with a hologram tool that projects a hologram in the pulpit that appears to be me speaking.
Needless to say, I would want the ability to adjust the appearance of the hologram so that I don't look as old and out of shape.

That second request for the hologram would probably have to be a part of Proclaim Ultimate version.

The hologram may not be as far-fetched as you think. Yesterday, one of my friends got stuck in traffic on the way to church so he livestreamed from his truck.
