Logos Mobile 8 Incompatible with the Most Recent Version of Kindle Fire HD
My wife and I both have Kindle Fire HD tablets. Hers is the newest version, while mine is older. The mobile app continues to work on my older tablet but not on hers. She was able to use it yesterday, but when she tried again this evening, none of the resources would open. Instead, she got a message that the license for each resource was missing. Everything appeared in the library, but no content could be viewed in any resource. I thought maybe the app had become corrupted, so I uninstalled it. When I tried to reinstall it, both the Google Play Store and the Amazon Kindle Store said the app is no longer compatible with her device.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi Cale:
With regard to the operating system being obsolete, those of us who don't change mobile devices as frequently as automobile motor oil have had similar issues over the years.
One of the first things that will likely happen is a guy named 'T-Bone' will come here and ridicule you for buying Fire tablets. But before that happens, call Customer Service. I think there is an alternate way to get the older app version reinstalled. The support forum info says you can't get an old app reinstalled, but I have seen hints, here and there, that that might not be absolutely true.
They should also be able to help you work out the resource licensing issue.

I'm quite sure the Fire tablets keep a cache of downloaded apps somewhere on the file system, even after uninstalling. You could use an app such as Total Commander to comb your files and directories for the Logos app...
If that fails, here are downloads for the old app versions:

However, these are much older app versions than the one you have deleted, which will result in reduced functionality.
Next time you have a corrupt app, better delete the app's cache and data files instead of doing a complete uninstall.

I am not a regular user of Kindle devices, but I do own a few. I had very similar experience with another app (it was an MP3 player app).
Some questions:
- Which specific version of FireOS is the device running?
- Which specific device is it?
- Have you performed a full shut down and restart of the device?
- Have you tried wiping the device and starting fresh?
EDIT: If I understand THIS page correctly, Kindle Fire tablets released before 2018 cannot run a version of FireOS compatible with Android 6... which is a requirement of the current Faithlife Apps.
A problem with Android, and even much more so Kindle Fires (which runs a modified version of Android) is that some devices end up having a shorter upgrade lifespan. [:S]

Maybe I read wrong, but the new Fire won't install correctly; the old one works.

Wiping the device will delete the app cache for good, and it will become impossible to undelete the app.

why do you think it would work after he undeletes it?
Because it works on the older of the two devices. Because it works on my own Kindle Fire too, which has also been dropped from support recently.

That misses the point. It didn't work on the device, which indicates some sort of corruption. "Undeleting" the app will just bring back that corruption, no? That is what I meant by my question.

I already gave the advice to delete cache and data files of the app. If you do that, then the app is shiny and new, just like after a fresh install.

Cale - Did you follow and understand the other posts in this thread? From our understanding of what you have posted, your "newer" Kindle Fire may be too old to run the new app. The reason that the "older" one works, is because it has an older version of the app running, which was compatible.
That is our hypothesis, but you will have to provide more info for us to confirm.
