Using Proclaim with the Elgato Stream Deck

Is anyone using Proclaim with the Elgato Stream Deck? It seems that the Stream deck could greatly simplify Proclaim presentation training, and as both can support midi, it ought to be possible to use them both together.

Does anyone have a simpler option?

I believe there is a simpler way now. Looks like someone published a midi app for Stream Deck, which you can use to setup buttons to control Proclaim via midi.

If you are on windows you will need to download loopMidi

On Mac, you use Audio MIDI setup to enable the IAC driver.

Both of those steps you do once, to facilitate the midi communication, then after that you configure the rest by adding Commands in Proclaim for the things you want to control, and then add the corresponding midi button to your stream deck.

It's all fairly straightforward. It takes four steps and about 10 minutes to configure. These are the steps for Windows.

Install and configure a virtual midi-port.

Download and install loopMIDI.
Add a virtual port to loopMIDI by clicking the + button in the bottom left corner. You can name the port first, or just accept the default.
Minimise loopMIDI by clicking on the close button.
Right-click on the loopMIDI icon in the taskbar and make sure it starts minimized in the future.

Install a Stream Deck midi plugin.

Make sure Stream Deck is fully closed. Right-click on the taskbar icon and quit if you need to. (You should see the StreamDeck icon across all the buttons.)
Open Stream Deck, then click on More actions…
Type midi in the search field, and install the extension by Trevliga Spel.

Create a midi button on your Stream Deck

Scroll to the list of available actions, and drag Note On/Off to one of your buttons.
Name the button and change the icon as you wish. For example, you could name it Next slide.
Make a note of the Channel and Key. Leave velocity at 64. Button type should be Push. The Midi Out port should be the name of the port you created in step 1.2.
If you want to create more buttons, repeat these steps, but make sure you assign a different Key to each button.

Configure Proclaim

Make sure Proclaim is completely closed, then open it.
Go to Settings and Midi Input.
Click Add command.
Choose a Proclaim action from the dropdown (such as Next slide).
When Proclaim says it's listening, press the button you configured on your Stream Deck.
If you configured additional buttons, repeat from step 4.3

That's it! Once it's configured, you can use the Stream Deck to control Proclaim in the background. I'm using this in conjunction with OBS, so that OBS and Proclaim can be controlled without ever touching the laptop.

Just confirming - your setup has Proclaim and the StreamDeck on the same PC?

Has anyone successfully set up a system with the StreamDeck (running Companion) on a different PC than that running Proclaim?

Alas - I got outvoted on our team and we're no longer on Proclaim. We are running StreamDeck w Companion from a different computer to use the presentation software we are using. Key for that was getting all software running on local machines wi static IP addresses. Seemed to lock things in and get more stable. Hope that's helpful.

Good news! Faithlife released Proclaim 3.2 with "Include built-in support for Stream Deck with our companion Stream Deck Plug-in".

I've installed both, and the Stream Deck control of Proclaim works just fine (WIndows 10 platform), even with Proclaim minimized and focus on another running app. Very helpful to have the Next/Previous slide buttons handy on Stream Deck (also the On Air toggle function). Thanks Faithlife!

It works for both Elgato mini and Razer Tartarus v2 streaming decks.

I thought it won't work on Elgato XL alternatives, but luckily it does.

Although Razer Tartarus v2 seems like a good deal, Elgato XL is still the best. I made a mistake by purchasing it, but wanted to save some cash. And it also got great reviews, for i.e. here: https://streammentor.com/best-streaming-deck/, but Elgato is superior to it by every means.
