Limit Text Width
Hey all,
I have Logos on Mac and iPad Pro. Problem with my screens in both cases is that if I want to read something full screen without distraction, the text has to be either a) super gigantic, or b) wider than a reasonable person can follow.
Have I been missing some magical way to limit the width of the text all this time? I've about had enough and probably should have asked much sooner than this.
Not to bring up the competition, but Accordance has a setting that allows us to manually choose how many inches or centimeters wide we want to limit the width of the text.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
I'm afraid I don't quite fully understand what you are asking for. You seem to be wanting to read full screen but also to limit the width of the text.
Logos doesn't have a manual setting but you can drag the width of the panel to the size you want
Can you clarify further please?

Would adjusting the number of columns by clicking on the "kabob" (red circle) then selecting number of columns (green circle) solve your dilemma?

Yeah, what I would like is to have a full screen that is free of distraction with text that is of readable width (I have a large 4k monitor). I can't read a six sentence paragraph that stretches across the entire screen because that is too large. But if I shrink the panel on my desktop then it's an ugly panel with other items cluttering the screen.
I really just want to read a book with a simple view that isn't cluttered but not too wide on the screen. Again, Accordance does offer this option, which I appreciate. I'd like to be able to do the same while reading a book in Logos without taking up the entire screen real-estate if the screen itself is too large.

The column issue sort of helps. But having 4 or 5 columns on the screen is not something I like. I want a single column that is not too wide.

I am missing something in this thread. Why doesn't adjusting your main window size manage the problem. There is no reason that the application has to fill the full screen.

I find it pleasing to have a large undistracting field with the text in the center not filling the whole screen. I like it. And for software that costs thousands of dollars I hope it's okay for me to ask if I can do with Logos what Accordance already lets me do.
Sorry to be snappy, but I am asking for advice, not for recommendations on changing what helps me focus or do my best work.

I agree...being able to limit the width of the text in a window would be beneficial to me also because, for me, it reduces distraction.
There is a Uservoice entry for this idea where you can vote to support the idea. Logos developers look at Uservoice to give them some idea of new features to add. Unfortunately, it doesn't have very many votes--maybe this thread can garner more support.

I understand now what you want ... I can nearly do it in Logos but need to think it through a bit more.

You could create a blank custom guide, and have it set on either side of your Bible.

Here's another option.
This is how to do it if you want:
1. Open the book.
2. Ctrl+F11 (or right-click the book menu bar and select "Open in a floating window").
3. This is all.If the book opens in a window maximized to full screen, you can always click the window "restore size" icon (on the right top corner of the menu bar).
P.S.: I'm using Windows. Perhaps you can figure the homologous steps on the Mac.

3. This is all.Thank you, Lucian, for pointing this out--it's actually what I do when I am reading.
Logos remembers the size of floating windows, so once you resize to your liking, it will generally open your book to that size.
However, I also use Moom (to name one of many similar apps) to resize and position my windows.
One advantage of this way of reading is that you can have the Information window open in the background if you need to quickly lookup word definitions.
