How to delete a personal book

Having come from WS, I can only wonder why I didn't try Logos years ago. Love it! I would ask for consideration to be able to delete "Personal Books" I have created. I tried to bring in a doc file from WS and accidentally put it in "Personal Books" and now its frozen there but all the references are linked back to WS and thus doesn't work. And I can't delete it.

So, in Logos 9, I would ask consideration be given to being able to delete a "Personal Book" (i.e. Tools->Personal Books) that I have created. Maybe there's a way already and I haven't found it?

"The normal method of deleting PB’s is via the Personal Books tool (right click + Delete). It removes the book
from Library and from your Resources folder. However, the only way to remove uploaded books is to Hide them."

A while. But the issue goes all the way back to PBs introduction (6-7 yrs ago), when the tool-PB didn't delete the compiled PB. So, for a long time, you had to battle it, with Hide. Apparently, delete now deletes (99% per Carla), unless FL has got a hold of it (upload). Then, hide again.

I called the customer service to delete it from my Library, but the answer was it is not possible. Perhaps in Logos 9 may make it possible.

There are solid logical/technical reasons for this limitation. I would not expect users to move it into high priority for many years.

Consider that a personal book must have a unique id in order to support notes, highlighting, URL links . . .

Now consider a remove and rebuild after a hard disk corruption ... it must retain the same unique id for the notes etc. to work

Now consider a real delete ... and finding ALL links to the id (including external word documents, PDF's ... when their URL fails you need some clue as to what they were trying to link to ....

Now consider an old device that's been unused for a couple of years and therefore has not had the delete synced to it ...

Now consider the accidental reuse of a "deleted" PB id by another user or resource ...

You should be getting the idea that a true delete is a very, very messy process that takes significant resources. Now ask me what I want to spend those resources on ... bugs, polishing, and enhancements will keep FL busy for a long time before I'll want to spend the resources on a PB delete.

I think you exaggerate the "issue".

Consider temporary resources when they are removed from your license - they will leave behind the same mess of unresolved Notes, URL's, but you get warnings that the resource is "no longer in Library". Just delete the Notes, as they are still listed against the resource title (URL's you discover along the way).

Now, you can manually delete non-uploaded PB's from your computers and leave unresolved links. The issue is with Uploaded PB's, as Faithlife won't remove their "license", and they keep on being downloaded when you delete the compiled file.

I believe you misunderstood me. Temporary resources do not create the same problems because they are permanent Logos resources ... Logos retains knowledge of them whether or not an individual has them. So Logos "knows" the Notes, URL's etc although your installation does not have them. Personal books are not permanent Logos resources so Logos must create "permanence" through not letting go of the unique identifier.

I am wondering if you have a problem with the standard solution of uploading a blank replacement which is so troublesome that the nightmare of attempting to alter the 'files on a disk' would be a preferable option.

Of course altering files on a disk on a discrete machine is unlikely to affect the files held on the cloud.

Use the same PB but use a blank docx file, Build and then Upload (

Alternatively, you could change it to be a useful Header for your Prioritization list or another type of PB altogether (metadata and file) - but Upload it at least once.
