Very true indeed

Yes, this would be helpful. L4 accessibility will be a major factor for me too when it comes time to upgrade my cellphone.
So -- here's a loaded question -- Blackberry or Droid?

I second that! I'm trying to patiently wait because if I could access Logos from an Android phone, I'd actually consider purchasing on of the many that are being introduced over the next two months.

I hate Windows 7, but love Droid. Windows mobile platform did not work at all for me. Verizon literally sent me six different phones before I finally had to abandon the platform and go to Droid. Hopefully Windows will work one day, but for me it did not. Droid is amazing because it works. I would use I Phone but I want to stay with Verizon. Droid does what it says it will do, only downside is that nearly everyone has an I Phone App, but more and more are making it available for Droid. A lot less for Windows.
Please...
Please...
Please... develop the android app. Here are some ideas to assist:
Go open source - there are a lot of us techno logos users that would be glad to help
Charge a small fee to pay for the development of the app
Lets face it the Droid does...but for logos right now - it doesn't... and thats just sad.
Bob,
I would like to see Logos "finish" some of the ongoing projects (Library.logos.com, Library.logos.com beta) rather than leaving them in a perpetual half-baked / incomplete status. I'm not as familiar, but this list may also include L4 Mac and iPhone version (no offline searching).
If Library.logos.com (mobile and PC versions) are built out to their full potential, do we really need separate dedicated apps for these other platforms?

I emphatically agree. The honeymoon period for ipad is over and its not the 'kindle killer' publisher's were anticipating it would be. For me, Kindle has the edge because I can't afford either an ipad or iphone, and even if I did, my biggest complaint against Logos would still be left unresolved. That is, the ability to read books from the Logos library with the comfortability I would otherwise have with paper books. LCD screens do not cut it!
Nearly everyone I know who doesn't have an iPhone uses a Blackberry device (not counting those of course without smartphones). I would really appreciate an app for Blackberry.
However, I am in agreement with what others have said, regardless of the platform chosen, please let us know as soon as possible so that I can make any changes I may need to. My wife would really appreciate that so I stop borrowing her iPhone for extended periods of time to use the Logos app.
I am a Windows Mobile user, and would love a Logos app for it. However, i understand that Logos will not create an app for it at least until after version 7 is released. What i want is the ability to read my Logos e-books on my device. Logos created the library.logos.com, but it really does not work well. You can start reading an e-book, but once the browser is closed, you cannot easily get back to where you were. Basically, that is all i am after on my mobile device. I use my desktop to study, and want my mobile to read. Make the library.logos.com work better at creating bookmarks or remembering where i am and i would be happy.
God bless!

I have a Droid and a Kindle and would love to be able to read my books without waiting for the pages to reload each time. I do not read books on my computer, so having an app for the Kindle and Droid would definitely change my buying habits with logos to include more than just commentaries. Start with the fastest growing mobile platform, make an app for Android! Or if not, just open it up and let someone else in the open source world do it... I would really love this if you could do it and would pay for the privilege.
Thank you!

library.logos.com works ok with the Opera 9 browser. PIE in WM 6.5 will only render the site correctly if in landscape mode. They will pick right back up where you left off. But if you read on you're Windows box too and are like me and leave Logos4 open weeks at a time, the two will interfere with each other rather than sync cleanly.
Hi Joe,
I just started using library.logos.com on my droid. I can get to about half the books in my account. However, for reading purposes, I set up a reading plan. Each reading plan shows up on my account home page. You can be reading several books at once using this technique. To switch between books use the web page home button.
I stumbled on to this technique by accident. I was way behind on a book which I expected to be able to finish last month. The plan called for reading about 4 pages a day. When I opened the plan on my Nexus One I found that it was synchronized with my desktop reading. The plan took me directly to my current spot in the book. Since the selections were small I never had to scroll through a lot of pages to get to my current bookmark. Of course, it's easiest to just stop at the end of a plan selection.
I would suggest setting your plan to start in the PAST and choose the reading sizes small so that there are lots of them. This gives you more choices on when to stop and results in less searching if you choose to quit in the middle of a selection. You won't have to pay attention to the dates, your mobile will just give you a list of pages to read for you next selection. Ignore the fact that you're "behind". It seems to sync back with your desktop in case you want to pick up from there.
Regards,
David

I completely agree. A Logos application for the Blackberry is long overdue. My Blackberry Bold 9700 is the second Blackberry I've owned, and I don't/can't see myself buying an iPhone anytime soon. However, I'd seriously consider buying an iPad just to be able to use a Logos mobile app on it. Keep up the good work.
Please take our updated mobile survey. If you want a dedicated Logos app on the BlackBerry or Android, this is your chance to be counted!
Bob, Thank you for asking. I did not take the survey because I am still weighing the benefits of the different devices before I buy one. I am not yet sold on the iPhone (too small), iPad (high cost) or the Blackberry (old technology?.) But I've seen the Android and I LOVE it.
I want a mobile device primariy to read with. It is a must for it to handle my Logos library. If I did cast a vote, it would be for the Android. For the time being I carry my netbook around with Logos 4 full install / offline.
Logos 7 Collectors Edition
Windows Mobile PLEASE! We have a large user base and a vibrant platform to develop in. Win Mobile 7 is around the corner as well and I'm just not interested in Apple or Blackberry for mobile solutions. I must admit that the new HTC EVO 4G from Sprint will make me at least blink at Android but Droid is too new for me to truly consider over tried and true Windows Mobile.
Please don't forget about us Win Mobile users....
Logos 5, Windows & Android perfect together....
Hey Bob,
I pray all is well with you and family. This is Chaplain George W. Jones, Carswell NAS JRB, Ft. Worth, Texas. I am so thankful that you'll at Logos are looking at other cellular platforms to build Logos on. Mine is the Blackberry 8330. Although it is wonderful having all of the titles that Logos provides on my laptop, it would be even better if I had access on my Blackberry. As a military chaplain, sometimes I am called to do very training in a moments notice. Having the ability to access my Logos on my cell phone will be a blessing because I have access to my titles right there on the cell phone. It this is something that you can do for me and other blackberry users, I would really appreciate you!!!! I already sing your praises to all who ask!!!!!
May God Continue to Richly Bless You,
George W. Jones, Ch, Capt, USAFR
I went to the Verizon store today to look at the HTC Incredible, and I walked out with a Moto Droid for my wife and a HTC Incredible for me (will be shipped in June). I was not planning on doing that, but you know how it goes. [:)] They were running a great deal that if you buy a Droid the Incredible was free, so I jumped on it.
I would love to see Logos running on that phone. I'm sure it would be snappy since it has a 1Gig processor and 512Mb of RAM!!

Motorola Droid user here. Bob--I purchased this phone with the hopes that Logos would go Android next since I was unable to go iphone for network reasons. I can't tell you how helpful some of the resources would have been on on the go ministry. I hope you can help those Blackberry users out there, but it looks like the mobile world is moving Android which is found on every major network now unlike the iphone. Thanks!!!
Hi Bob, please consider making an logos mobile app for the android. If you noticed HTC is hammering out so many devices this summer especially with the biggest competition to the Iphone the HTC Evo 4g. These devices are going to be running the android OS as numerous other HTCs will be. This would be a huge market and know this will continue to increase as more and more people leave ATT's iphone. I am getting the HTC Evo 4g and would love to have a logos app for it. Please consider Android which will be the best OS and most used from now and into the future. Thanks.

Eric,
Through the answers that we get from the survey that we have posted here will help us get a
greater picture of what kinds of phones our customers use and the App
that we should focus on next. If you have not yet taken the survey, I'd
recommend doing so as that is the best way to let us at Logos know which
App to develop next.

We're still working on re-writing our mobile display engine, which has to happen before we port to a new platform. We're almost there.
BlackBerry and Android are both possibilities, though it's looking like Android is getting more traction in the market right now, and I think it'll get attention from us first, though I can't make any assurances (or offer any dates) yet.

New mobile display engine: Woo hoo! Cause I'm hoping that this gives more options (notes? highlights? visual filters?)
Android will be getting attention for Logos: Woo hoo! Thank you

Knowing this gives me something further to consider as I stare at my top two phone options, one from each camp. Samsung Captivate or BB Torch. :-)
I may have to just sit on my hands till after Christmas for this anyway.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Granted, droid is growing in popularity, but there are many more Blackberry users out there. They are just quieter.... Usually... [:)]
I couldn't wait so, I got the Driod X and I'm hoping that it comes soon. For now, I'm using, "Blue Letter Bible" for my,
"On The Go Study." Not everybody is a iphone owner.
I am not an iPhone owner either. But, I don't understand this. Presumably, all of those in the forums that are shouting for a native app for their particular platform are Logos customers. Therefore, you have Logos resources available to you online in more than one form, in what is a fairly good interface (yet limited, but no more than the iPhone). Yet some boldly proclaim that they will do their Bible study elsewhere online. Why would you limit yourself and not use library.logos, biblia.com, or bible.logos? The former two, of which, link to most of your resources.
It is as if, in childish defiance for not getting your way, you are thumbing your nose at Logos, at your own expense. I, for one, am grateful that Logos has gone to such effort, without remuneration, to provide the whole community with access to most of our resources online, no matter where we are and what devices we are using. In addition, they continue to demonstrate their dedication to all of their customers and Bible study by exploring such things as topics.logos and books.logos.
Please, a little charity and perspective.
Just got my HTC EVO which now ships with Froyo (Android 2.2). The larger screen and sharp resolution makes it ideal for using Logos. Not to take a thing away from iPhone or Blackberry (or WinMo, for that matter), but Android 2.2 is really a wonderful phone OS. I am reading books from Kindle on my EVO and I look forward to a solid app for Logos.
It really is amazing how far we have come with mobile computing devices! Phones, pads, netbooks, etc, etc. And while I will love having an Android specific application (for all the reasons that the rest of the community have already mentions: reading books, prayer lists, book lists, devotions, study, etc), I think it will be someime before I give up the large monitors of a desktop and the potential to have dual monitors, etc. Logos is phenomenal in that format!
JJ
When I buy an ebook on Amazon I can read it on any platform. When I buy a book from you, I can only read it on my desktop (not good for reading). I will not add any more books to my Logos until I have an Android app.
Also, Amazon makes it's reader programs available free (you are already paying for the books).
My suggestion is that you make a basic reader app for all platforms (including Kindle 3 using their new API), and make it available free (this will encourage people to add books to their Logos library instead of buying them on Amazon) . Then you can develop fancy search and reference programs with fancy features for the most popular platforms and charge something for those.
Being able to read logos books on my android and my kindle would definitely make me buy more books from logos. You are right about the Amazon books. I can read them on either laptop, the kindle, or the android phone. Great idea. Just a simple reader that we can download books to.
Thanks

I agree 1000% -- forget the Black Berry and the Windows phone, the actual leaders are iphone and now the superior phone called DRRROIDDDDDD....LOL...sorry BB and Windows, but it's true. There's no point to have apps for every single phone but the only top 2 best out there in the market...maybe, maybe a top 3, but that can be up for grabs for any other phone, not necessarily the BB or Windows. Anyway, may the best 3rd best win.[:P]
Giovanni
Market share is one thing, and while BB does not hold the lead, it's users aren't shy about spending money for quality applications either, which a Logos app would have to be if it was to be worth using. The BB PlayBook, while never designed to 'grab market share' is being well received, and it's size makes it an ideal reader as well, plus it is getting Android app support in an upcoming OS update according to RIM sources. Personally, I find that the BlackBerry offers what I'm looking for in a secure platform that integrates with the tablet. Of course it's all about what works for each of us.
Bob,
I did buy the iPhone expressly to be able to use the Logog moblile app, but I thought I would be able to sync it to my PC version. You know, Library collections etc...
Steve
Welcome [:D]
Option: could post mobile sync wish list suggestion in iPhone/iPad forum that includes thread => Notes on iPad?
Keep Smiling [:)]
Thanks Bob:
Hope to be able to use Logos in the new Windows Mobile format due out Fall 2010 given my current Windows Mobile apps will not work in that new format.....
