Brant Pitre on Jesus & the Tribulation on Pre-Order!
My excitement over seeing the pre-order for Dr. Pitre's published dissertation: Jesus, The Tribulation, and the End of Exile: Restoration Eschatology and the Origin of the Atonement, was quickly squashed by the one-two punch of the price ($800) and the fact that this is a Logos Reader's Edition.
None short of Dr. Nicholas Perrin have called Pitre's book "the definitive book on Jesus and the tribulation" (Jesus the Priest, 6).
When Baker Academic republished this (originally Mohr Siebeck), it had a list price of $49.99. I assume the only reason for the price inflation of this Logos edition is that the book is impossible to find and so used copies go for upwards of $1000 online.
A few requests for this book:
(1) Adjust the price to at least the original list price of $50 for the paperback book. (I really doubt any pre-orders at the current price...)
(2) Make it a Research Edition (it's a published dissertation - full linking please!)
(3) Create a Brant Pitre Collection with:
- This book
- Jesus and the Last Supper
- Paul, A New Covenant Jew
- A Catholic Intro to the Bible: Old Testament

I 2nd everything Kevin said. 800$ for a book is simply outrageous.

I see it was $24.99 today, but not yesterday. It was close to $800.

I figured they might have seen your post. I do wonder what they were thinking in the first place

Amazon has a paperback for $852.85.

Well, that is a substantial improvement in price! (especially given the difficulty of finding a print copy of this monograph)
Now here's hoping for the other asks...

This was the original listing (hence my bewilderment!) May all Logos resources be so heavily discounted from their initial price [;)]0 -

Hmm, I wonder if the price was auto-generated based on that.

And for those wanting a preview of Dr. Pitre's work on the subject, a great article to consult is the entry he wrote for the 2nd edition of the Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels on "Apocalypticism and Apocalyptic Teaching" .

What linking are you afraid it will lack?

The difference between a reader and research edition:
That doesn't actually help much to answer my question (but thank you for trying). The Logos Reader Edition of the Catholic Encyclopedia, for example, contains a number of things that are only explicitly listed in the blurb about Logos Research Editions.
