Bookmarks
Greetings everyone!
I'm new to Logos and have been viewing videos and reading help material. I also know I may be using the term "bookmark" incorrectly as it relates to Logos, but I'm not sure what else to call it.
When I call up a layout, it always brings me back to Genesis 3:1. Not a bad place to be, but it's not where I left off. Is there a way to bookmark or save where I left off and not always have to start at Genesis 3:1 and navigate back to where I left off? I realize I may not be looking at things the way I should when using Logos, but I'm thinking about how things work in my Kindle app, etc.
Thanks in advance!!

While I believe that you need to update the layout using "update active" in the layout menu or as some do, make the command a shortcut. See Suggestion: Remember passage on close - Faithlife Forums (logos.com)
(I suspect both work).

This is not necessary most of the time. JT is right: it's a simple setting in Program Settings that will cause Logos to open back up to where you left off.
If, on the other hand, you are using multiple different layouts, and you want to open one of them back up to where you left off in that layout, then MJ is correct.

Hi JT and Rosie, I'm confused.
If I open a layout and change the place in a book and then close the layout without updating it then, when I open the layout, it opens at the original position in the resource not where I left it.
So I believe MJ is correct that the layout needs to be updated before being closed
What am I missing?

I don't switch layouts. If Logos moved to "projects," I would.
I have the settings Rosie showed. I open logos, do my thing, close logos, and it opens up how I closed it down. I don't ever "close" the layout (just logos) and I don't ever "save" the layout.

I have more than one layout for various reasons and purposes. In the course of a day, I usually use at least 3 layouts and probably more for same reasons or purpose.
To that end.... I always "update active" layout. In fact, I have macro set in the "heading" that I just click on and then choose my next layout to work with.

This is a different scenario to that described by Craig where he is saving layouts.
In his case, to get the behaviour he is looking forward I believe he needs to save the updated layout before closing Logos down.

You are probably right... if he is changing layouts.
In his case, to get the behaviour he is looking forward I believe he needs to save the updated layout before closing Logos down.
...but, if he is simply wanting the app to open back up to where he left off, then we are right.

Either way will work.... but as a precaution... if a person wants to come back to the position they are in .... then a safe bet is to save the active layout.
I learned this after being frustrated with not returning to the place I was at in some layouts.
Be safe.... not frustrated!

He's brand new to Logos. I doubted he was saving multiple layouts since he didn't say that explicitly, but I might be wrong.
I've been using Logos for years and I almost always just close it and reopen where I left off. If I open another layout, it's one I was using a long time ago, and I don't care what Bible verse I left it at back then, since whatever it was, it's surely no longer relevant now.
